Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

I didn't know Q1, but I had seen some sort of J! or LL question at some point connecting the Rubicon to Julius Caesar, and a vague memory of it was enough for the get. I didn't know Q4, and know nothing about French grammar, but I had a vague memory of seeing the correct answer while playing the Int...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

My dad has won his last two matches 6(3)-5(3) and 7(3)-6(4), the latter against the previous rundle leader. Hooray for poor rookie defense!

I feel robbed because "Afternoon of the Faun" was not an MCW.

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

I thought I was going to go 0/6 when I saw the questions. I don't care one bit about jewelry, so I had no clue on Q2, but, I had a vague memory of hearing about a three-word substance called "mother of (something)" that sounded sort of like the question, but, probably not. So I put "mother of" down....

Re: Learned League 74 - Official Thread

Apparently I'm registered for LL74. I was planning to sit out this season, and didn't even realize that I was registered until now, so I have forfeits for the first two match days, one of which, judging from the questions, would have been a win even with imperfect defense. Have you not been getting...

Re: Eclipse Poll

My dad and I are both interested in driving from Florida to see the eclipse. I'm 18. Recently graduated from HS, currently beginning a gap year, and have a lot of time on my hands. My dad is currently on an extended vacation before beginning his next job, so also has a lot of time on his hands. Seem...

Re: Learned League 73 - Official Thread

Although I have otherwise NHO the books, I was still the only person in my rundle to get Q4 because I remembered a similar question from LL61 or so from looking at past questions. That was enough to take sole possession of the highest TCA in my rundle. Which is shocking, since I have played along wi...

Re: Learned League 73 - Official Thread

I'm back in LL this season! Super excited! Two years ago, I joined LL, and quit halfway through the season (taking 0(0)s the rest of the way) due to the torturous combo of (a) taking it way too seriously and (b) doing poorly. I think I'm mature enough now. E Prairie Div 2 A couple of days before I o...

Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

On Q6, I instagot the correct answer, thinking "constellations" at first glance (before reading the whole question) even though I am not really familiar with any constellation listed. Probably the category helped. That's the trouble with playing along and tracking TCA, getting something and realizin...

Does anyone think that "National Forest Service" would be negged because it's the "U.S. Forest Service"?

Re: LL71: For The LLamas

My dad has been perusing the websites of colleges that I might apply to, and he told me that he saw that there was a LearnedLeague club at Rice. Rice immediately became my first choice. I looked it up... and found that it was actually a League of Legends club.

Re: LL71: For The LLamas

The most frustrating part about playing along with LL is having borderline answers and not seeing whether Thorsten would have given you credit (Marfan's disease)

Re: LL70: For the LLamas

My overall feeling from yesterday: Boy, was it a scholarly day! ;)

Although I do not actually play LL, I have spent WAY too much time looking at past questions, and was therefore able to get Men At Work solely from this, even though I had otherwise NHO said band.

Re: LL70: For the LLamas

My J! abilities are not exactly indicative of a J! champion, but I sometimes go on a good run and pick up a fair amount of LT, and I had a pretty decent FJ! record this past season. When watching the show or looking at contestant responses through the archive, I don't always feel all that much worse...
