good FJ question.

IMO, Wenceslas is a harder grab than Kafka or Holy Roman Empire.
Not when you're spotted "Good King" and Christmas.
It's still harder than being spotted a "Sacred" empire.

Re: Wednesday, July 14, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

First thought was Caballeros but swatted that away pretty quickly as I couldn't think of a reason they'd need different names in Spanish. Took a few more seconds, but I got to the correct response.

Re: Tuesday, June 15, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

A whopping total of $5k was wagered on all 3 daily Doubles True, but I can't say I hate a $1,000 wager when you're only trailing by $200 that late in the round. You're still one $1600/$2000 clue away from the lead if you miss, but if you get it, you're likely to hold the lead into Final as long as ...

Re: Tuesday, June 15, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I was completely lost on that Final. None of those locations meant anything to me and I couldn't find anything to pin it on anyone, or even any time. I ended up on Marilyn Monroe, and I'm still not sure if I was really close to the correct answer or really, really far away.

Re: Friday, May 28, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The point isn't to second guess what she should have done because the clue turned out to be easy, it's that it was likely her only (or at least best) chance to win. She finished her J! career (at least for now) 18/19 on DDs and 12/13 on FJ, both incredible marks, and had she been willing to bet on ...

Re: Tuesday, May 25, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Although I sometimes found Ryan to be annoying, my opinion aligns more with Shaquebanisa than with Setho. In today's interview, Ryan admitted to being shy and awkward, and (IMHO) his behavior in both games is what "heart on his sleeve" looks like for someone with his personality. For many years, I ...

Re: Tuesday, May 25, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I was pretty sure it wasn't Steinbeck, but I knew it was at least the right time frame and he probably had a Nobel, so it was the best I was able to come up with in 30 seconds. I was happy to be as close as I was. I feel for Ryan though. Sometimes the stars align for you and you beat a 19-time champ...

Mrs. alietr: Every woman knows who Sam Elliott is.
I can name one woman who didn't know who Sam Elliott is.

No problem with Final Jeopardy, because I used to use this as my desktop wallpaper.

I’m assuming Split is a town in Croatia? That blew right by me. NPR had a story tonight about tourism in Croatia post-lockdown. I’m intrigued!
Second-largest city in Croatia, actually, right on the Adriatic. Diocletian's Palace is right at the top of its Wiki page.

        2/5 is about what I expect for a ToC. Didn't expect to see "the one Final written for me and only me" here, though (my twitter handle is @ArmadilloAl). NHO Lewis Hamilton. The only race car drivers with that last name I could think of were Pete Hamilton and Bobby Hamilton. Both too obscure for J! That's because you're in the wrong country/league. Lewis Hamilton has won six of the last seven Formula One championships, which makes him the first (and...

Re: Tuesday, May 18, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Obviously the writers didn't know Nibir would be playing this game, but it sure felt like they were throwing the College Champ a bone with that "Today's Hits" category. I personally thought that was the easiest Final Jeopardy I've ever seen, but I should probably admit that my user name on pretty mu...

I think they'd have to count it. I mean Affleck and Garner were married. How do you rule against it even if "Bennifer" was overwhelmingly used for Affleck and Lopez?
That, plus the fact that Affleck/Garner would be one hell of a neg for a $200 clue, is what I was thinking.

Re: Tuesday, May 11, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Jeff over-wagered. Then I read on here he minored in theology. Good over wager. He didn't over-wager by a lot. Since he's only trailing by $800, he only needs to leave back $1,600 to stay ahead of where Juliet "should" be on a miss. Wagering $14,000 instead of $15,600 doesn't cost him nearly as muc...

Re: Friday, May 14, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

"Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner" also would have been acceptable for the Bennifer clue, right? I take the "Mainland Asia" description as an acknowledgment that the Arabian peninsula is just technically in Asia to mess me up on some J! clues. It kept me away from there, but I was going for Banglades...

I was cheering for Leah so I am glad she won but I don't like the way she won. Hari made what seems to be a wag. I got final instantly.
Gibson directed The Passion of the Christ, so probably one of the better wrong answers, honestly.
