Re: Tuesday, March 31, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

All trough the clue, I Me Mine, I Me Mine, I Me Mine...

Re: Tuesday, March 31, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

US State + named after an English county = only one choice as far as I know. Pretty straightforward once you ignore the coastline part of the clue. For me, the coastline part was the key. It might as well have just said, "This state has an 18-mile coastline." But that's what made it a good clue... ...

Re: Friday, March 27, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Sad to see Susan go, as she grew on me quickly in her second game. Her FJ wagering situation wasn't quite what I wanted it to be to shed light on her unorthadox bet for Thursday's Final. She did, however, make the absolute necessary all-in bet this time, which would have won her the game with a sing...

Re: Thursday, March 26, Final Wagers

J..... And Evan didn’t even try to win the game. Looks like Evan assumed Susan would make the normal cover wager, which would have dropped her to 5199, and Evan left himself with 5201. That part of it makes sense - he was just thwarted by a lower-than-expected wager from Susan. You have to factor A...

...Fawlty Towers in the '70s? Monty Python would've been a better guess. ... ?? Fawlty Towers was aired first-run from 1975-1979. It's true I suppose, MP would have been more likely to have an audience advisory... but I'm not sure what "concerns" either Cleese show ever addressed. The sale ...

How is Lobster Thermidor a TS? I've heard of it and I live a thousand miles from the ocean Despite living in Maine for a third of my life, I absoluely NHO Lobster Thermidor but the bit about the meat being "removed from the tail" was enough of a clue for me to accurately guess 'Lobster'. My petty g...

Re: Monday, March 23, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

So Michonne went into FJ with the lead, got FJ right, and lost. I could spend a week criticizing that wager, but why bother? The result speaks for itself. And yet, it happens so rarely that we're allowed to scream WTF!!! I was ready to scold Kimberly for underbetting on her Daily Doubles and going ...

Re: Wednesday, March 18, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Newfoundland was an evil clue since "canine" pushed me toward Labrador. Count me as answering Labrador. I was shocked when Kris was ruled incorrect. being aired so early over here (12:30 pm EDT) means 2 1/4 of the 3 games this week have been preempted. :( That's been the case for The Price Is Right...

Re: Tuesday, March 17, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Yesterday, I had my back turned on the TV for most of the game, so I did not notice how much Sid looked like a bispectacled Clint Eastwood. All he needs is a wide brimmed hat, a poncho and a blunt between his teeth. Little did Sid know that he could have secured the win with a $2 final wager, so lon...

Re: FJs for the 3/2/20 week

I watched the Burt Lancaster version of Dr. Moreau on TV one late night, over forty years ago.
I seem to remember there was some catch phrase that the 'beings' chanted over and over neer the end of the movie.

The FJ clue rang no bells until after it was revealed.

Re: Tuesday, March 3, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Shame to see Bruce go out so early; he was a fun contestant! I liked him too. He showed a pretty decent depth of knowledge for his age. It's a shame he got picked off by a tough FJ. The two challengers were solid players and easy to root for. This was one of those rare games that I wish the tie gam...

I got this FJ with no difficulty. Although I did briefly consider migrant workers.

If I could have been close enough, I would have whispered to him to wager $2598 instead of $401. Hardly any extra risk involved, and he still keeps third place locked out.

Re: the champion's wager

Maybe she figured she had already won five games and was not worried about absolutely maximizing her chances of winning another? Perhaps you meant absolutley maximizing her winnings ($) in the event she gets it correct and Steve is wrong? In that case, I would argue that in both of her lock games s...

Re: Monday, February 24, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The clue had me match MacKenzie and Jennifer for being right while during think time I wondered if any players would guess Elvis or even Merle Haggard. It was not the kind of clue I knew, knew, though I felt like I was taking the best guess. I think either Jerry Lee Lewis or Chuck Berry would've be...

Re: Tuesday, February 18, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I brainfarted on Manson - only got as far as "the cult leader in the Leo/Brad movie that was nominated for an Oscar this year". That reminds me: The clue asked for the man, person specific, but Caitlin (?) responded with "the Manson family". I kinda thought that needed a BMS, if not an outright neg.

Surprised that MacKenzie ripped through the first few Religious Idioms but couldn't get the DD. It seemed just as easy.

Then there was the TS on Valerie B's husband and Jane Curtin.

I was wondering if Caitlin might be related to Bobby Jon from Survivor S10

ETA: Brooke nodded on the Westminster DD, so she might have won the game had she found that important DD3 Perhaps so, being that she had the sole get. After seeing how she wagered on FJ (and on yesterday's FJ), I'm not confident she would have made an optimal wager, had she been within 2/3 of Terry...

Re: Tuesday, February 11, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Just when I was thinking "oh cool, Kristyna didn't make the usual all-in suicide wager!", here comes Danyelle's nonsensical wager. Somewhere, someone watching at home will think to themselves "if only Kristyna had bet it all!" *sigh* Though I'd have a lot more sympathy for her if she hadn't bet 100...
