Re: Tuesday, April 28, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I've only heard it as Shinto before and not Shintoism. I said Evangelicalism instead of fundamentalism. Me too. (When I saw the clue, I said, sounds like Shinto, but that's not an "ism," is it?) Seems like a questionable clue, particularly given that the category expressly calls for "ism"... And Sp...

Re: Wednesday, April 22, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Why didn't they credit Sharon for "the deepest part" of the Pacific Ocean? It is a correct answer, and it satisfies the clue (which asked only for a "part" of the Pacific Ocean and didn't ask for a name or anything) and the category. At the very least, she should have gotten a BMS or a prompt for a...

Re: LL70: For the LLamas

It's so lonely in my rundle . . . Mine too.. still never seen another boarder dip a toe in Midland in eight seasons... :P Missing questions in your wheelhouse just makes in more likely in the future that someone will give you points for a question that you probably will get. You want to miss a few ...

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

What was up with the two literature questions yesterday (or two film, depending on how you want to count Q3)? Has that ever happened before? I thought as a general practice if not a rule, there were never two questions of the same category on the same day -- at least, I don't remember ever seeing th...

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

My B rundle has been playing better than some of the A rundles so far, and 11 of us got a 9(6)-9(6) tie yesterday, including both my opponent and I, who are both still in the relegation zone because of it. This season is the first time I've spent three consecutive MD's in the relegation zone, and I...

Re: LL68: For the LLamas

According to Thorsten, this season has been slightly harder than the previous two (although it's probably not a statistically significant difference). I found that interesting, because my QvH is 113%. Now I'm wondering whether it's a fluke or whether I actually improved. (I prefer to think it's the...

Re: LL68: For the LLamas

An unhappy 6(5)-8(5) loss. I thought my opponent's near-perfect business and industry score would make "Morningstar" easier. I was assigned the correct 3 for that question. My brief run leading the A Mag rundle is long gone. I'm 100 points above my average so far this season though, so I hope that ...

Re: LL68: For the LLamas

Got to say, the low get rate on Great Fire has me shocked. What else could it have been? Some sort of pastry or other baked good. I guessed crumpets, and confidently assigned 3 points in defense! Oops. I said hot cross buns. Glad I wasn't the only one. Another hot cross bunner here. Managed to eke ...

Re: LL68: For the LLamas

After seeing all the mentions of a baseball question that made me curious enough to check it out. The Mets finally got a no-hitter in 2012 to make the list of teams without one quite short. Extremely short. I was amazed at all the extra information provided for the question to lead to the Padres. N...

Re: LL68: For the LLamas

After my first week of LL, I'm finding out the most frustrating thing isn't so much a lack of knowledge (which is what I thought would kill me, and probably will later), it's that I'm terrible at this whole defense thing. I'm 6th in my rookie rundle in TCA, but 3rd in TPA and have the most CAA. Tha...

Re: LL68: For the LLamas

Argh. Lost day 1 because I swore the bandit's name was Reckless Kelly, which is, in fact, a Yahoo Serious movie about a modern day Ned Kelly. The worst part is I knew his name was Ned! Last names are sufficient unless questions specifically say otherwise, if you want to save yourself from this fate...

Re: LL68: For the LLamas

The cheese stands alone and Elon Musk. That's all that was occupying my vacuous brain. Lost 1(2)-6(5). Did you say Musk and get credit? My wife and I both said Tesla but she was positing that Elon Musk could be acceptable, too. You could easily argue that Elon Musk can just as aptly be calle...

Re: Winter 2016 LL ML and 1DS thread

Argh, I was hoping I could call myself a LL two-time Trek champ (I won the all-Trek one-day a while back), but missed it by that much and had to settle for the massive second-place tie. I'm surprised that the Fall of Betazed, which was only mentioned in one episode, was more well-known than the titl...
