Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

I thought that I had a good shot at a 6-pack yesterday, but I had a RTFQ moment on the first question. For some reason I thought that the theme was men who walked on the moon, so I spent my time deciding between Selene and Luna. I thought that it was an odd way of asking a mythology question. The m...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

I got assigned a 0 (correctly, theoretically) for that one but missed it to end up with the dreaded 9(5). For some reason my brain latched onto the Hardy Boys and never let go of that notion. My brain also did the Hardy Boys connection, and then I missed two Kosman coinflips on Selma vs. Montgomery...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

Cyndi you do an amazing job of maintaining the list of Boardies every season. Thank you for all of that effort. I appreciate it. You are very welcome. I have it streamlined with some excel tricks with vlookups and concatenations for formatting, so it is a fairly quick list to generate, formatting i...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

I went with Mercator because, who else could it be? But then I started thinking about the fact that there are a ton of other map styles, but stuck with it anyway. XKCD has two great comics on the Mercator projection, the second of which got me wavering on Mercator. Here they are: ( https://xkcd.com...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

I guess it's my turn for some bad luck. I sit in 24th place at the moment with 15 TCA (yesterday was awful) and a DE of .900. They guy in 3rd has the same TCA and DE of .765. I'm sure it'll even out over the course of the season, but nonetheless ... That sounds familiar... It is much more fun down ...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

My brain saved me on one question, but still blanked on another. Georgia! It must be Georgia. What's the capitol? Wait a minute... (Tell daughter Sophie that she is reading too late...) <face palm> Bulgaria! I said Roseola, even though it felt not quite right. Why I didn't review the vaccinations in...

Am I too late to join a boardie private rundle? If not, let me know via PM or email: bpenrose [a] gmail-dot-com.
Unfortunately, there was nothing organized before the deadline on the 14th (at least that I was aware). Perhaps we need to be better organized for LL81.

Re: LL79: For the LLamas

My 20th century women group has 3 females, 1 non-binary, 1 cis-gendered male, and the remaining 7 male. That is pretty spot-on for the league average, I think. I am really excited to have finished 10th (98th percentile) in oncology. I teach two lectures on chemotherapy later this term, which helped ...

Re: LL79: For the LLamas

My answer of "author died before they were done" was not accepted. I did however, totally get the Koons question, and added this balloon dog to our tree ornament collection this year. Unfortunately for boson, we haven't set up the tree yet. If you want one, you can get it at Canadian Tire: https://w...

Re: LL79: For the LLamas

I can't believe that 37% of llamas made the same careless mistake as me and StevenH ... using the wrong tense of 'jump'. I can't believe that anyone on my Facebook friends list missed this question. Re: LL79: For the LLamas

Occasionally I like LL, some days I dislike LL and other days I hate it. Five right was good for me though not enough as I had the "honour" (he's Canadian) to face the only person in my group to get all six right. My opponents (public and private) mistakenly thought that my Canadian location...

Re: LL79: For the LLamas

Thanks to cmp146 for updating the list! I like the way you list ronins in both places. After taking off LL78 for various and sundry reasons, I'm glad to be back in LL79. I'm also curious to see how I enjoy a private rundle that's a bit more my speed (one A, one B, the rest C and below). I'm sort of...

Re: Where to start w/ trivia & life?

Read widely, take some courses in things you don't know, but want to learn more. There are free ones on Coursera, or other internet based platforms. Check out podcasts and digests. NPR has great shows (as does the CBC) on tons of topics. Look things up if you don't get references, and then learn mor...
