Re: Tuesday, February 6, 2024 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I thought references to the 8 seconds come up frequently across all ways of life and in various jokes. Would have thought it polls well over 80% here. Request please. I had the same reaction. I'm not a rodeo fan, but I've heard enough references to "staying on for 8 seconds" in pop cultur...

Re: Thursday, November 30, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Earl Warren and I share a hometown, and I find it rather strange that I didn't really hear anything about him growing up. Other than the main classroom building at our largest high school, I'm not aware of anything named for him. Seems like a local boy who went on to be a three-term governor, SCOTU...

Re: Tuesday, November 21, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I was hoping there might be some discussion here of the weird way “The Artist” question was answered. It almost seemed like Ed may have just blurted out the question (and that part was edited out) before asking, “oh I have to ring in?” (or whatever he said, I don’t remember the exact words.) Otherw...

Re: Friday, October 13, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
"Greensleeves" aka "What Child Is This?" has an additional title, "Where the Lilac Grows". A couple of my mother's high-school classmates did it on their second album (the B or "straight" side of "The Two Sides of the Smothers Brothers"). Still not ...

True. But to the best of my knowledge, we've never seen anyone other than Eddie Timanus use a keyboard. I wonder if no one else has ever asked, or if the show has turned them down. https://jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?t=28 Nice, thank you! I don't think I ever watched the kid's weeks. Per that thread, B...

Re: Monday, July 24, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Do you really think so? I can see it for a contestant with a physical issue, but I doubt they'd give a keyboard to someone who didn't need it. I don't have any inside information, but I suspect they would not interrogate the need for accommodations. It's not like they require a note from a doctor i...

Re: Monday, July 24, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
It's time for Jeopardy to join the 20th century and give players a keyboard for FJ responses instead of a light pen. I'm tired of penmanship and speed writing being the deciding factors on correctness, as opposed to knowing the actual response. I don't see why they wouldn't honor that accommodation...

Re: FJ wagers in lock games and consolation prizes
I’ll once again tilt at the windmill and say they should pay for the hotel. Someone posted on here that TPTB said they didn’t do it because it wasn’t fair to locals who didn’t get a hotel. News flash, life isn’t fair. And why can’t they put up locals? Cut a deal with a major chain and give them an ...

Re: Monday, July 10, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Is that a bad thing, to have to read the clue multiple times to make sure you have it right? Especially when the right pair should have leapt to everyone's mind! It adds a degree of difficulty to a simple clue. I misread clues all the time, fail to pick up the important word. It's often why I miss ...

Re: Monday, July 10, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
By the time you've got multiple people thinking the clue is asking for something different, and there's a debate here whether or not it's written poorly, then it's absolutely, 100% written poorly (even if a lot of people didn't have a problem with it). I eventually got there, but I had to reread the...

Re: Watching Jeopardy after cutting the cord
If you subscribe to a cable alternative service (Hulu Plus Live TV, YouTubeTV, etc.) you'll likely get your local stations. Some services may have shows on demand (I think Spectrum did, at one time), but I'm not sure if Jeopardy is included. If you subscribe to a DVR feature, you can record most any...

I knew it! https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/italian-cleaning-woman-throws-away-modern-art-she-believed-to-be-biscuit-crumbs-9141489.html In 1999, Tracy Emin's Turner Prize nominated conceptual piece 'My Bed' was ruined when a museum patrol, believing it had been vandalised, tidied up...

Be on the lookout for Redditors
Reddit is in the midst of a miniature rebellion regarding app access and API calls, and as a result the official Jeopardy subreddit has decided to shut down until Wednesday. You may see more folks in the game threads for a few days.

In "G"eography, the clue "Beware monsters in the valley of this river that flows near Yuma; it's where the same-named poisonous lizard hangs out" was worded incorrectly.
Gila monsters are venomous, not poisonous.

Having the post-FJ! explanation be that "Nixon resigned in the face of impeachment" made it seem to me like Mayim thought that people missed because they didn't know that fact. Reading it so obviously off the card made it look like she didn't know that fact. (Obviously, that's not true.) ...

Re: Wednesday, May 24, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I don't think I knew the Wagner/Liszt connection before the show, but I was able to pull the correct answer with the dates given (and surprised myself). I'm never going to stop watching if a specific host is or isn't on that night, but Mayim's pacing (plus slow category calls from the contestants) m...
