Re: Alex Trebek Announces Diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer

Yes, there are December 3-4 tapings on the website calendar that are "available soon". Secretly hoping I get called for one of those, but I'll be happy to just snag some audience tickets and use my Southwest miles to fly out! TMZ says today full steam ahead for Alex taping shows. https://www.tmz.co...

From what I read, he had special teams of pacers running in formation around him to break the air resistance, a car leading the way with a special laser light to project on the pavement going at exactly the proper pace velocity, and he was getting his water and nutrition handed to him via bicyclist...

Re: Alex Trebek Announces Diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer

Honestly if Alex decides to retire even by the end of this year, I will totally understand and be 100% supportive of his decision. It is sad what he's going through, and I wish he could continue hosting in spite of it, but pancreatic cancer is no joke and dealing with stuff like mouth sores and poo...

MOVIE MATH It's the sum of all the numbers that appear in the titles of 21st-century Best Picture winners. What is 2,000,012? (Million Dollar Baby + Slumdog Millionaire + 12 Years A Slave) I went with 1,000,012. I don't think "millionaire" is a number. This is a good clue but I think it's asking fo...

Thanks, both, and my apologies to mas3cf. Obviously I haven't had a look at the college test yet... I would point out, though, that 5 is a pretty low number of the hits for Emily Dickinson in the archive. This isn't the only thing to know about her. For instance, there are dozens of hits tha...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

I did alright this season, but TV questions absolutely destroyed me. Does anyone know of any good, info-dense books about 1950s-1960s television? May leaf through reference books at some point, but I'd prefer something more readable. more readable, I don't know of any books for that beyond the refe...

I couldn't even tell twelvefootgirl about "pull my finger" for the three word sport without literally laughing out loud. . I appreciated the original question, and missed it with "International Test Cricket", which probably isn't actually a sport name. There are some good ones, but I don't te...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

Had a strange season, mostly because of who I played and when I played them. Started out great, near the top of my rundle, then fell just above relegation, then finished strong for an 8th place ending... Makes me think about the coach of the NY Giants in the 90s who said after a 9-7 season, "if it w...

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

Everyone check your emails because I got an audition offer for Philadelphia in November. I definitely did not pick that city off the list because I remember selecting Boston. I knew I passed the test so I was disappointed when I didn’t get an audition email back in April but now I am so excited and...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

Trying not to make my stay in A rundle a 1-season one, I'm in 25th (one above the relegation zone) and tied in points with the person in 26th, over whom I hold a 3-point edge in MPD. She's the only person who can knock me into the relegation zone. So it all comes down to MD 25! Note: the 26th-place...

Sergeant is the third and final word in the title of a 1958 British film that launched a series that ended with its 31st movie in 1992. ...and no pesto I've ever had has had pine nuts... Are you sure about that? Admittedly, alternatives can be used, but the nuts get pulverized during the making so the sauce itself has no visible nuts. So, no I guess I'm not. If that's the case, I'm even more surprised that 92% knew it is pine nuts,...

A very difficult clue, but I would still love to give it a try. ART The only painting sold by Vincent van Gogh during his lifetime currently resides in this museum. What is The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts?(The painting is "Red Vineyards near Arles".) needs a TOM, nothing here to associate one with ...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

I considered but dismissed both "Bathing Beauties" and "Toyota War" (I definitely typed and deleted the latter, possibly the former) thinking that the former might be too lascivious for the 1910s, and that "Chevy Land Cruiser" rang a little truer to me. Luckily my opponent gave those 1 and 0 (as we...
