Re: Final Jeopardy! Clues

The most recent time two teams from the same state faced each other in the Super Bowl was when these two teams met; the losing team making their only appearance, and the winning team making their fifth appearance, and first with a different quarterback. In a real game the clue would be 1/3 this len...

Re: Final Jeopardy! Clues

Got it! Nice one. You probably could have gotten rid of some or all of the TOM after the semicolon and made people think: - States with 2+ teams: Florida, Texas, Ohio, Penn, New Jersey, California, Missouri (for a while) - Florida: Dolphins/Jags vs. Bucs? Haha, no. - Ohio: Browns/Bengals, ROTFLOL n...

Re: Final Jeopardy! Clues

Wrote this one today, very much liking the job I did with it. Re: Wednesday, September 18, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Have seen The Maltese Falcon a few times, but not in many years. Don't remember the character, or much else other than the basic story. Immediately knew it was about the Hiroshima bomb, quickly wrote down "Fat Boy", didn't think that looked right, spent 29.5 seconds trying to remember the names of t...

Re: Wednesday, September 18, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

36R with a bunch of misses. The episode was already archived so thanks for that. I get Biscayne Bay and Bay of Biscay mixed up. The clues were fine but I'm having fun imagining the Jeopardy writers going to a small metal concert and surveying people - "You all like Def Leppard and Motley Crue, righ...

*crosses fingers* Goin in for PRK in about 2 hours so if I don't show up the next couple days it's because my face will be covered in ice (reportedly) Good luck! It is an amazing experience (LASIK in my case). It was, and still is, an experience to be sure. Having brief moments of clarity which is ...

Re: Audition rules clarification

Send a note to the contestant coordinator email address. Explain your situation and ask them if you should take the test. That's what I did in 2018 when my 18 months ran out a week or two after the online test was scheduled. They told me to skip the online test. I did. They still did not call me to...

Re: Audition rules clarification

If I was in a couple of months, I would take the test anyway as the audition date would be outside the window of the 18 months. Then when and if invited, I would alert them to the situation and ask if I am eligible for the audition. This way it does no harm to anyone eligible, while giving myself ev...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

I didn't think it would be "The Periodic Table," which felt a little clunky to me (and besides, the actual thing has more than 21 elements! Even in 1975!), and I vacillated between "Periodic" and "Periodical" before trying to think of something that sounded a little more literary, and came up with ...

So, how's Tamron Hall working out in the Millionaire slot?
early report I saw it got the same 1.4 ratings

I just don't understand, Millionaire was cheap, it was gaining viewers; a new show is always a gamble, talkers rarely pay off.

Matthew McConaughey is returning to the University of Texas this fall to serve as a professor of practice at UT's Moody College of Communication. McConaughey, who graduated from UT with a film degree in 1993, has been a visiting instructor there since 2015, co-teaching a Script to Screen course. He...

The one stat missing that I would love to see is a magic number or otherwise named stat showing mathematical possibility/eligibility of relegation/promotion.

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

I waffled between Denmark, Indonesia, Canada, and the Philippines. Only Denmark made sense given the wording. But Australia was MCWA? I'm curious about people who got Fill or Kill. Did you just guess? Did you know it? I consider myself very well versed in finance and I don't think I have ever heard...

I should've had Foley, just couldn't think of it at all.

Annoyed with myself over Greenland vs. Denmark, went Greenland, but at least it didn't cost me the match, I'd have lost anyway.

I was one of the 36% who confidently answered The Lion King for highest-grossing G-rated movie. Now I really want to know what that movie did to earn a PG. I thought "is the Lion King" really G? Oh well, since it has last month, and I know that one is a juggernaut I'll put it down. TS4 is out of th...

To be fair, seaborgium, I have a lot more confidence in you being able to suss out the correct answer (or correct enough) to this than your typical D or E rundler, yet most of them knew it, too, so I've just got to assume it's something people just knew. I think you may be overestimating knew vs gu...

Re: Is J! getting easier, or...???

When did you start, and how long did it take, and did you start with the older games?

If you began with the older games, I would think #1 is in effect, and if you did this in a short time, then I would say the material became more familiar as you went on.
