Having lived in a few different areas of the country, I'll chime in that unless there's an actual Nor'easter going on that day, the roads will be in decent shape. The Northeast understands the use of the snowplow in ways that the Midwest can only dream about.

Re: Geek Bowl 2018

South Carolina. I'd probably drive because I could stop in NYC area & visit family/friends. For me it's not about driving there, but I would hate to make plans, spend money on such plans, only to have the famous Blizzard of '18 hit and ruin said plans. As for coming up from SC, if driving seems dic...

I'm interested in it but going up to Beantown in February could be dicey.

That’s the reason I’m having 2nd thoughts about putting together a team

Re: Breaking Pop Culture!

Depending on what trivia you're playing, I wouldn't worry about pre-1990 pop culture, especially if you're looking to improve your Jeopardy scores since there isn't too much asked from that era anymore.

Re: LL BWA Entries

Card game?!? I put down "curse word" but I should have gone with my BWA attempt of "Black Sabbath song". I put down curse word and after seeing the answer was card game, I wondered if I would get a BWA even though I was serious about my answer. Today I saw 22% had curse word--did not expect that.

Re: Matt Lauer Being Considered as Alex's Successor

No, there was no Matt Lauer clue on the 11/29 episode. Wow, reading back over some of the entries in this thread sure elicited some cringes, given various events in the intervening years… At this point Watson is looking like the best choice for a successor... He may be the only left. I'm sure there...

Re: Questions about getting tickets, and other stuff

Since I've still never been called to an audition before, let alone having the 3+ auditions it seems to take to get on the show... Take a look at this poll from the Jeopardy! Fan. I'm banking on joining the cohort of just 1 audition because I've had miserable luck with the audition selection proces...

Re: Projecting When the Next ToC Competition Might Take Place

Is there a minimum number of games you can win to guarantee a spot in the next ToC? yes, 1 game (technically) while taking either the Teacher's or College Tournament. Other than that, 5 is what they say, but if there's too many 5 game winners, then no. Of course that still isn't a guarantee, a play...

LL75 MD5 Q2 Name the center (centre) for the Edmonton Oilers and 20-year-old hockey phenom who won the 2017 Art Ross trophy as the NHL's leader in points, as well as the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league's most valuable player. That guy. With the stick. You know. The good one. Teddy Roosevelt?

This is the question that ended the 11/14 Whiz Kids episode: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tiZPrhMpSVv2EWU7xac9QIM802BOlO-e That was great! Here's what I did (with the video paused): Like a lot of people here probably do, I know the first line from "Seasons of Love" is "525,600 minutes," which ...

Re: Timing of Audition Invite Emails

One thing we haven't thought about: We know TV lies to us all the time, maybe they aren't scoring the tests at all, but they are scoring "us"; they can always score the tests later to look and see if someone figured out how to cheat on the online test. But at that point in the proceedings, they hav...

Re: Timing of Audition Invite Emails

Anyone else notice that they seemed to group the buzzer round based on test scores from high to low? The question is does it even matter? So hard to read who they liked and who they didn't! It makes sense to call people up in evenly matched groups, but at my audition I was never aware of other peop...

Re: Timing of Audition Invite Emails

This whole test scores determine the group seems to make sense as it would explain why they bother to take the time to score the test during the in person audition while everyone is there. Up until now, I really wondered why they would do that since everyone at the in person audition played the mock...
