Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Interesting. Did Paul Boymel always wager to tie? If so, it would be interesting to know his reasons. I know this is controversial, but if the scores were $6,300 to $3,200 and third place was out, and I felt confident about the category, I would have been tempted to not only not wager to tie, but t...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

That studio in 1984 (when it was taped) was not very big. I also seem to recall that all 5 episodes were taped consecutively without any break for lunch. I ...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Also the applause after seemingly every correct answer was actual studio clapping. The "applause" sign lit up a LOT.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

The openings of both episodes didn't record well. But I will have to go tell my brother in 1985 to be more careful! :)

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Paul Boymel and Jim Timmermann tied on January 23. Paul Boymel won outright on January 24 to become a 5-time champ and then 3 new people came on the next day.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Yes, that's how I dated it. And then I confirmed it by checking the TV listings to see that the movies being advertised being shown after Jeopardy matched up.

I don't want to share the video itself widely since it's a home recording.

Also from the earlier episodes (1985) that I have at home, the crowd was encouraged to clap for EVERY right answer.

Re: What's wrong with the J! Archives?

How would I submit an old game that isn't covered in that archive?

Re: Football pre-emptions

Mine listings have Jeopardy on at 9 pm Friday in Los Angeles, but don't be surprised if they don't show the whole thing. They "may join in progress"

Re: Long-standing Jeopardy Traditions That We haven't seen in a long time

My brother appeared in Season 1 and there was a Potent Potables category.

And in Final Jeopardy, all the contestants included cents in their bets. They all bet an even dollar amount.
