Re: TD 389 - SHC

I got a little clever with one of my responses; I’ll spend the reveal wondering if any other players tried to pull the same fast one I did.

Re: TD 388 - Mystery Theme! - Q9-Q10 + bonus revealed

You're not kidding. I would have sworn that KISS would have been the sheep for the lyric question, so I went for Wild Cherry instead. If only I could have remembered the last name on one of them, though... "I'll bet not many people will get that one. Dream Weaver by Gary... Gary... something. Okay,...

Re: TD 388 - Mystery Theme! - Q5-Q6 and bonus revealed

For the record, I didn't figure out December, 1963 until I figured out the theme of the whole quiz. Thankfully I did have an idea of a general time frame, which did help at the end. If only I had worked out what the bonus to the other one was the same way, because I practically knew I was going to ...

Sheep on sheep on sheep. I thought I got the classical music one wrong, though, so I'll take it. Well, 12th place isn't great but it's not terrible, so you shouldn't complain  I just want to piggy-back on SenseiCAY’s lamentations, because both of us are doing the same thing on this game. Re: 2018 Current Events Study Guide

Novak Djokovic defeated Kevin Anderson in straight sets for his fourth Wimbledon gentlemen’s singles title, and his 13th Grand Slam single’s title overall. Djokovic’s Slam total ranks fourth in the history of men’s tennis, just behind Pete Sampras’ 14. Novak may be the third-greatest player of all-t...

I hope I'm not the only one who simply couldn't figure out the theme.
I think I knew the theme, but that didn’t help me find the next link in the chain.

I guessed Deliverance on Thursday, which was published in 1970, so I can’t check the box. I’ve seen Jaws, but I momentarily forgot it was adapted from a novel.

It’s not coming home.

Croatia (population: ~4 million) is the second-smallest country to reach a FIFA World Cup final (only Uruguay is smaller).

Re: Tuesday, July 10, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The presence of Turkey was a bit of a misdirect, offering an A-to-B path to an incorrect response (a common fruit cultivated in the Mediterranean/Middle East > dates or figs), rather than an A-to-C path to the correct response (Cerasus > looks like cerise > French for cherry). Not just French -- th...

Re: Tuesday, July 10, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I wonder if more would have gotten FJ if the category was Word Origins rather than Agriculture. When I made that change in thinking I moved on from figs to the correct response, but that was a good 15 seconds in... I think TURKEY would have been a better category than WORD ORIGINS. Several people h...

Re: TD387 - morbeedo's Revenge - Q3 Results

I left the dance question wide open, except for specifying 1950s or later. We can debate whether some of the responses qualify as fads or novelty dances, like voguing, but I really have no basis for marking anyone wrong on this one. Oh, Voguing was indeed a thing, however brief. I was living on Man...

To be blunt, the type of person who has never shown any curiosity to where common expressions came from, is not someone who is going to succeed on Jeopardy! You have to know things, and you have to be capable of some deductible reasoning to fill in the gaps you don’t know. Blah blah blah vintager. ...
