Re: Tuesday, January 7, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I think we can all agree that Karen's the best player of the decade. I'd put her at Silver for the next TOC.
I thought Buzzy was a Bronze and look how that prediction turned out....

Re: GOAT Tournament Day 1 (1/7/20) Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

My Coryat in Game 2 was twice that of Game 1, plus 200. I was at 0 for a long time in the first round of Game 1. I'm sure many of you had similar experiences. Impressive performances by all three! I'm a fan of all of them but Ken's long overdue for a tournament win... and with the most appearances o...

Re: LL83: Learned League

Congrats to BigDaddyMatty on his third straight A Horizon title. I finished with career highs in TCA, TMP, and CAA. If you'd told me four years ago that I'd crack 100 correct answers in a season and finish on the Maso leaderboard, I'd have  I will be returning to A for a sixth straight season, ...

Re: LL83: Learned League

Since the start of last season, I've had as many ties as wins. #ARundleLife
I'm having my best season ever- in terms of qpct- thanks to two 6-packs and six 5's, but everyone brings their A-game when they play me.

Re: Tuesday, December 10, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Is Jennifer the first contestant with the last initial Q to win 5 games? I hope she won't be the last. She's been doing really well in her Rookie Rundle and I wouldn't be surprised if she makes it to A within two or three seasons. If she continues to hold the other contestants by the nose and kick t...

Re: Thursday, November 28, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I know it was innocent, but why wasn't that first DD wager changed in post-production? Even though only a couple numbers are prohibited, it's still possible to get those numbers during the show, and as a result of that wrong answer, we got two of them.

Re: LL83: Learned League

Achievement Unlocked: 50 Losses in A, B, and C I'm actually at 51 now. 12 more wins in A and I'll have an achievement to be proud of. I imagine fewer than 2% of LLamas have 50+ wins (or losses) at three different levels. I've had a few Buckner ties but those don't count. Personal Records shows 433 m...

Re: Thursday, November 21, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I gave myself credit for "obtuse triangle." It starts with O and has no right angles, and it's a real term. A rare episode where I went 0/4 on the big clues, but a $33,800 Coryat and 40 R sort of made up for it. Tomorrow, all three contestants will be LLamas (a rarity), but it gets stranger... two w...

Re: Friday, November 15, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Great finish! All three deserved to be in the finals. Is this the first time in a TOC finals that the qualifier who played the most games faced two qualifiers who played the fewest? I had my worst game in ages; "Before, During, and After" ate me alive. But I did go 7/10 on FJ's this tournament, comp...

Was this taped at the Jeopardy studio or the Bonneville Salt Flats? All I kept hearing was vroom vroom ! Not just from one contestant, but all three, although the Bugatti sustained it longer. Who else sang "ThunderBALLLL" in their living room and held that note until they fainted? A possibly unbreak...

Re: Friday, November 1, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

How was that Final a TS?! I thought one person might miss with Seventh Day Adventist, but I could never have expected all three of them would give the same incorrect response. "On the seventh day, He rested"... right? Pentecostalism isn't obscure; you've all seen Assembly of God churches, right? Tha...

Re: Reretaken Down

Well, there go the Nationals' chances of ever moving back to Montreal. If the Expos do return, they should pick up where they left off (and make the Nationals a distinct team that started in 2005). Kind of like how the Ravens, who had originally inherited the Browns' history, gave it up once the Bro...

Re: Monday, October 21, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Leadville is an amazing city... um, town. It even has an opera house where perennial Jeopardy favorite Oscar Wilde performed! I stayed there (in the former governor's mansion) 8 years ago and remembered visiting the mining museum. Been there, done that, have the T-shirt.

Oof. I'm 11/25 so far this season.
I always check the Contestant Zone and check the LL site to see if any of them are LLamas.

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

Congrats to BigDaddyMatty on winning our rundle. I knew when I saw yesterday's questions that I'd be taking the L. I managed a winning record for the first time in A, tied a personal high in correct answers, and set a new personal high in ties. Over 4+ years, I've had three straight seasons with 78,...

Re: Monday, September 30, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

What a game! And what a comeback! Jason couldn't have appeared in the Contestant Zone last week. The writers must've been on a Gilbert and Sullivan kick, with answers of "gondoliers" and that infernal nonsense Pinafore, and a DD about a yeoman of the guard. I've been a G&S fan for years and I still ...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

I had by far my best showing on a Midseason Classic (I've done all 17 of them). My previous high was 8/12. I got 11, came in second in my league, and finished ahead of people like AP, VeredJ, RutterB...

The most dominating performance of the post-Holzhauer era. No one's mentioned yet that a Jason won on Friday the 13th...
This year, two math majors have won double-digit games. This is great and all, but I'm afraid TPTB won't pick any more of us to be on the show for a long time.

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

Congrats to Jboard's resident archaeologist on Scarf #3!
I've started this season off as consistently as possible with 4's on each of the first six match days. I now have more ties than wins or losses.
