Seems the Dardanelles and Bosporus are a smidge wider than a typical river.
Just wanted to thank you for sending me on a little map study the other day, so I could instaget the Dardanelles clue in Wednesday's game.

Re: Tuesday, June 19, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I feel if Truman had been the correct response, the clue would have read "sent a congratulatory telegram, but later told reporters..." The choice of the word "then" implies to me that the comment to reporters happened immediately after the sending of the telegram.

Re: Tuesday, June 19, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

The "figure out 2 parts of the clue" clues always require me to pause the DVR, but Poke Out An I was particularly egregious. I must have spent 5 minutes just on the $1200 clue. I first tried to think of computer keys, couldn't come up with any synonyms for "landed," then looked at my computer's keyb...

Re: FJs for the 6/11/18 week

Templeton is reluctant to accompany Charlotte and Wilbur to the fair, but after he hears the animals (is it mainly the sheep?) describe all the fairground garbage, he's in. It's the goose! I was semi-obsessed with both the book and animated movie for a few years as a kid. Somewhere in a box of stuf...

I loved the pronunciation of Pleiades. But then I say Illinoizzz, and ConneCt-icut, and Hawa-ya for those three states and flip-flop on Missourie-Missourah depending on usage.
Ah, but do you pronounce Topeka's state as kinSAW? ;)

I noted the J! page-a-day calendar coincidence too. Funny.

My knowledge of Krav Maga comes entirely from How I Met Your Mother. As it happens, it was just enough to get that clue.

FJ! was an instaget for me, mainly because I'm familiar with this logo: http://mapeeks.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/louis-vuitton1.jpg I can't really say where I've been exposed to that logo, to gauge whether I should be surprised at the TS. As a graphic designer with an interest in brand identity...

Re: Friday, April 27, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Count me as another who took "legendary" to be metaphorical rather than literal. I even tried going the furniture route, thought about a spinning wheel but dismissed it because a) it wasn't a wedding gift, and b) Sleeping Beauty isn't a real person. So my WAG was right there with Tom. I have a feeli...

Re: Tuesday, April 24, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I'm a lifelong Ohioan and couldn't think of any official state fruit, although I knew our state beverage was tomato juice... and that picture surely wasn't a tomato! Apparently in 2009 the tomato did in fact become our state fruit, while the pawpaw became the state "native fruit." I didn't even know...

Roald Amundsen does come up sometimes regarding the race to the North Pole, and being the first to traverse the Northwest Passage, so I guess my pavlovs aren't 100%.

As soon as you hear the words "North Pole," go ahead and pavlov yourself for Peary or Henson. They seem to come up frequently on J! (I could've sworn there was another Peary clue during the College Tournament, and I was surprised to see Henson come up tonight, but I'm not finding it.)

Re: Wednesday, April 18, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I remember the verse as "I am the way, the truth, and the LIGHT I started with via --> by way of --> the way... and blurted out "the way, the truth, and the light!" That gave me plenty of time to remember vita = life, akin to vital, vitality, vitamin. It's always nice to learn something new from wa...

Re: Thursday, April 19, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I came up with the correct FJ pretty late in the music, and realistically only would've had time to write "Arlington." Any chance that would be good enough? I second TPH's poll request for Me and Earl and the Dying Girl , especially considering it was a triple stumper in the top box. If any of them ...

If a cameraperson lingers on gratuitous mastication, mouth wide open, he or she is ejected as well.
I'm picturing a literal ejector seat catapulting the cameraperson out of the stadium.

Caroline’s neg being reversed was one I saw coming, so she was sad (Aw!) then happy (Hurray!) Rats! I’m down to 33% on the FJ! clues as I went for the one alphabetically first. Unlike yesterday I expect some company on my miss. Nice job by the gentlemen to make the clue go 66%. Well! That's too bad...

I doubt I'll receive an answer to this question, but do you have trouble recognizing faces in your day to day life? Because thats the only explanation I can come up with for someone getting that Marlon Brando question wrong yet still being aware of who he is. I'm not TPH, but I'm far less familiar ...

Despite (or maybe because of) being a musician myself, I often hear music first, lyrics second or not at all. So I landed on Eight Days a Week not from knowing the backstory, but from not paying attention to the lyrics! Or more accurately, in 30 seconds I didn't stop to consider what the song was ab...

If you remember Saturns, this might ring a bell. For me, my mother bought a Saturn in the early 1990s, so it was quite gettable. For others, it would be a lot harder. Or remember your screen name. :D I associate Saturn with the '90s because I recall being a tween/teen when their no-hassle no-haggle...

What was the TOM for Saturn on that DD? My mom got that one too. The only thing I can figure is "car brand that's named after a god." Considering none of the clues had anything to do with the literary device deus ex machina , I really hope the unrevealed $400 clue would've helped explain the catego...

Re: Monday, March 19, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Did the clue suggest it was still in use? I don't think so. I think it was solvable with the context (not that I did). Sorry, I didn't meant to imply there was a problem with the wording of the clue. My question would be whether people have heard/read the term Jack Ketch used that way. Obviously Li...
