Re: TD 443 - Hoops... (Final results)

Thank you for a fun game. First one I'd played in a while; it was nice to finish in the top 10.

Elon Phoenix was the SHEEP??? I thought for sure that was going to be a singleton for me.

Meanwhile...I am really looking forward to the 1970s Music mini-league. Maybe because I grew up in that decade, I thought the 1970s had the best music ever made. Hopefully, the questions for that mini-league will align with my knowledge base.

Re: Friday, March 27, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Oh come on, how can you not appreciate Khalilah muttering "This is turning into a disaster" ?! She's adorable, we loved her. I chuckled at that, too. Considering the type of game she was in and the way things were going, that was an appropos utterance. Cringeworthy game...has been a while sin...

Re: Learned League 84

After five consecutive seasons in D rundle, I failed to exit the relegation zone and am back to E rundle for LL85. As they say, back to the drawing board.

Re: Thursday, February 27, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I was sad to see Mackenzie's run end; I really enjoyed her run on the show. Not only was she bright with a deep knowledge base, but she had a great personality and seemed like a fun person. At least, I know she'll be part of the next TOC.

Aaron seems intense, in the Matt Jackson mode.

Re: Learned League 84

I must be setting a LL record for ineptitude this season. A personal record-setting 7th straight loss (dating back to last season) and a 2(3)-8(4) loss on MD6.

Re: Learned League 84

Facepalm moment when I saw the correct answer for the restaurant chain question on MD4; could not, for the life of me, come up with Howard Johnson but my sister's first job was as a waitress at our local Howard Johnson restaurant when she was a teenager. This is already a lost season for me and I ap...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), January 28, 2020

For 30 minutes before the test, I was reading the Wikipedia article on Opera, since it is a weak category for me. Then, the online test started. Lo and behold, there was an Opera question, about "Carmen", something I had just read about on Wikipedia...and still got the composer's name wrong. So much...

I was in the "Night Before Christmas" club. Grrrr...I should have known FJ.

I hate categories like the Jeff Goldblum category. He was so slow reading the clues...really slowed down the game.

Re: LL83: Learned League

I opened LL83 with a 3(3)-4(4) loss. Whitney Houston was a guess that actually was correct; I guessed Denver (which was wrong)...but was also the most common incorrect answer.

At least I'm 1.000 in DE after one day.

I am embarrassed to admit, as a former meteorologist (and with a Bachelors in meteorology), that I missed FJ.

The TOC Final is going to be epic.

Re: Wednesday, November 6, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

It was good to see James again...and actually, I was glad to see all three players. I thought we were in for a game when Alan got the DD to cut James' lead to $800...but then, James did what he usually did during his run: took control of the board and got on a roll. For FJ...my answer was Ella Fitzg...

Re: Entire Ending Theme Song in the credits?

The station which airs "Jeopardy" in our market often cuts away to a news break during the credits. They always show the beginning of the closing credits, and sometimes, will let it play all the way to the end but other times, they don't let it play out all the way.

Re: 2019 TOC Updates

I'm a little late posting to this thread (haven't been on the board in a couple of months) but this TOC field looks outstanding and the games should be exciting. I'm glad to see Emma in the field...but am hoping some of the 4-time champions who didn't make the field can be included in a future TOC. ...

Re: Monday, June 3, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I always record "Jeopardy" to watch right before I go to bed or first thing when I wake up in the morning. This evening, I was watching the NCAA Baseball Tournament on ESPNU when an item scrolled across the ticker that "James Holzhauer's streak had ended", spoiling the episode for me before I could ...

"Big Red Spot," alas. At least it wasn't my margin of defeat in either of my lost matches.
I made the same mistake. And I am an astronomy buff; I knew better. Def a facepalm moment when I saw the correct answer.

I loved that there was a clue on Simple Minds! I enjoyed that category in general. Seeing the Go-Go's come up made my day. I've been binge watching Go-Go's concert clips on YouTube nearly every night for the last couple weeks. :D I never would have got that (without the video) by simply doing the m...

Re: Hey, somebody has a new novel out!

I will have to give Dead Sand a try. Now that Sue Grafton is gone, I need a new series to read...and if it's a series, I just find it better to start at the beginning.
