Re: Ken Jennings as a Host Poll

I think Ken is doing an excellent job and I've already noticed improvement from week 1 to week 2. Yes, I'm open to seeing some other guest hosts and perhaps one of them will convince me that they should get the permanent hosting gig but if TPTB made the decision that Ken Jennings was it, I wouldn't ...

Re: Wednesday, January 20, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

For FJ, I immediately locked in on Carson City but didn't think that Sacremento was within 100 miles...and so I entered orbit around another planet and came up with two answers that were not correct. Enough said about that. The contestant interviews were the best in a while. Sarah's story was really...

Re: Tuesday, January 12, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Believe it or not...on Saturday, I watched a rerun of "Designing Women", in which Julia upset Charlene by referring to "the remains of a dog possibly orbiting Earth forever". Not knowing what she was referring to, I did a Google search and came across the sad story of Laika, who gave her life for th...

Re: Monday, January 11, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Ken did a great job, considering it was his first time out. The game went very fast; when I clicked stop on the DVR recording to delete the episode, it showed the game, plus commericals, lasted 24 minutes; usually the show lasts anywhere from 25 to 27 minutes. I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO far out in orb...

I have lived in North Carolina or South Carolina for all but 9 of my 50+ years on this planet and I did not know the answer to tonight's FJ question.

I ran Yacht Rock and Moving, and 4/5 for Chinese History and Ruth Bader Ginsburg on my way to 23 of 30 in the J round.

FJ was an Instaget guess.

Re: Thursday, December 17, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I swept the Prime category...and you can chalk me up as someone misled on the FJ clue and started rifling through Shakespearean characters, but nothing really came to mind...although I will admit that as the music ended, I said out loud that the quote didn't seem like something Shakespeare would hav...

Re: Wednesday, December 16, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I had been on a sizzling string (for me) on Jeopardy the previous six episodes but that all came to an end today; by the first commercial break, I had already missed three clues and it wasn't until late in DJ that I finally got on a roll. Brayden seems like a silent assassin; baby-faced on the surfa...

Re: Learned League 87 -- Nov/Dec 2020

Frustrating season; finished with the sixth-highest TMP in my rundle but only 12th in the standings. The top 5 in my rundle got promoted to D level for next season...and although I wouldn't have finished in the promotion zone, 3 of the top 5 finished with fewer TMP than me. Oh well...there are more ...

Re: Monday, December 14, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Does anyone have a link to today's episode? The game had just started when it was interrupted by a Special Report about Biden winning the electoral college. As if the speech wasn't bad enough, then there was talk among the commentators. I am so over the election. We are still being inundated with p...

While I'm saddened to see only 15 of us playing in a TD (and a good one, at that), I think that does guarantee me a Top 15 finish! Unless I finish behind the All Sheep Line, that is.

Re: Learned League 87 -- Nov/Dec 2020

I only got one correct answer on MD22, irrational number, and my opponent correctly awarded me 0 points for it, as math is my best subject (of course, I teach math so that's not surprising). My loss on MD22 in my regular rundle assures I will remain in "E" level next season.

Re: Learned League 87 -- Nov/Dec 2020

Food Network can be credited with helping me win on MD21. Back when my mom was alive, she used to love watching Food Network...and one of her favorite shows was The Barefoot Contessa with Ina Garten. When a clue referencing Ina Garten appeared on MD21, the only thing I could think of was The Barefoo...

Re: Learned League 87 -- Nov/Dec 2020

Had my first day of LL87 with no correct answers. I was sure Comrade was the correct answer for #1, not picking up on the clue about the 1950s. Needless to say, I lost in both my regular rundle and was blown away in my private rundle, 0(0)-8(5).

Re: Learned League 87 -- Nov/Dec 2020

GOLF hole?!?! That was all that made sense to me given that I figured a mine, well, or anything like that wouldn't fit the clue, the Greenbriar resort is in WV, and the year of 1884 was when golf was being introduced to the US. A bit of a guess, but when I thought of it, it made total sense. I live...

Re: Learned League 87 -- Nov/Dec 2020

My interest in all things British helped me be the only one in my rundle to get "Constituencies"...but I was one of the few who did not know that Ralph wrecked the Internet. So, I guess it was a wash.

Add me to the list of people who responded with English Channel...although I was sure that was not the correct response. And it wasn't!
