BuzzerBlog has been saying that the American version of The Chase should come back and it would be perfect to have Ken and Brad as two of the chasers.
Having all three as Chasers on ABC would fulfill both what ABC wants and what Buzzerblog wants.

Re: LL83: Learned League

Markov chains (or at least some modification of them) are used by lots of people in finance-related fields, and I've heard that some gamblers use them as well. I'm sure that James has lots of familiarity with them.

Boris Johnson's Conservative Party now has a majority in the British Parliament with 365 out of the 650 seats. Only Connect champion Aaron Bell won a seat in parliament, and Only Connect finalist Sanjoy Sen just missed out losing his district by around 200 votes. University Challenge champion Kwasi ...

I have heard of Hanford, and knew it was famous for something, but if you had asked me what it was famous for, I would've said that it was a town that got evacuated after the Mt. St. Helens explosion.

Re: Thursday, November 14, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Interestingly, in the KJV translations, Psalms has 25 more words than Jeremiah. 42,679 to 42,654. (I downloaded text files of each and stripped out the verse numbers via a regular expression search. One of the few times in my experience when regex hasn't been more trouble than it was worth.) I gues...

I had no idea that something that wasn't a news program would be in that time slot. I was negative six days old when the last new episode of Captain Kangaroo aired.

Re: Thursday, November 14, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I always thought Psalms was the longest book, but that didn't really fit. Plus the phrase "Hebrew word count" led me away from it. Said Lamentations since it kindasortmaybe fit the other part of the clue. As best as I can remember, I've NHO jeremiad. At least I can say I got a DD that James missed....

What tweet was that?
Someone has posted a tweet here from James that said that some people didn't play as well as they were going to after hearing about Alex's health.

Re: TOC semifinal matchups are up

I'm wondering if James's tweet from a few weeks ago is an indicator of him losing in the semifinals.

Has anyone here had to settle a scoring dispute with Thorsten? If so, how long did it take? I was marked incorrect for an answer that (I think) clearly meets the "sounds like" criterion yesterday, and was hoping to get it resolved ASAP, as this match outcome could very well determine whether I make...

Well, 'fisherman' but close enough to right.

The show's called "Deadliest Catch" for a reason.
That's both what I said an my logic, too.

I thought I was onto something when I saw that francified Germanic first name+not too long after the Franco-Prussian war would lead to this being the national anthem of Belgium. Unfortunately, I didn't know the name of Belgium's national anthem.

One of Friday's contestants is a children's book author who has also edited bestselling children's books by other authors, including my sister-in-law, Amy Ignatow. I can just imagine the amount of controversy that would happen if this FJ had been on Friday's episode.

The Ukraine just had an election, where a party based on the TV show Servant of the people, led by the actor who played the prime minister on the show, Volodymyr Zelensky, won a majority of the seats in their parliament. No word yet on whether or not a West Wing party is being created in the US.

I thought that "The Lottery" was a much older story than that, so I guessed Edward Bulwer-Lytton for FJ.
category was women authors
That was a big fail on my part, then. I hope I don't do anything that stupid in the LLRC.
