Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

A shameless plugin - my Bulgaria 1DS is tomorrow, and all of you guys should participate! :) I tried to make it fun (although maybe not as fun as the Condoms 1DS that is tomorrow...), but I also tried to make it a 1DS where everyone will learn something new. If you do end up taking it and have feedb...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

I have a question about this game and since it is an old game from the Archive, thought I would post it here - http://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=1468&highlight=statuary+hall The 2000 dollar clue for the highlighted category gives Daniel Webster. It looks like they were expecting New Hampshi...

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

Alright TPH, try this: 1100-522 is what was asked for, right? Just add 22 to 1100 -> 1122-522 = 600, correct? Now, you just need to remove that 22 you just added -> if you can't do it right away, do 600-20, then remove the 2. Did you get the answer?

Did anyone else put Thaddeus Stevens for "PA Congressman who was opposed to slavery"? I thought that would be the MCWA, but apparently not :o

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

May I request that games with id 5434 and 5435(1995-B Seniors Tournament semifinal games 1 and 2) be completed in the Archive whenever someone gets the chance? I enjoyed FILMS OF THE '50s in 5434, and would love to see if there are any other interesting categories in those games. Thanks in advance! :)

Re: LL71: For The LLamas

Wow, somehow I ended up top of my rundle after MD 7... Guess I will enjoy that until next week, surely it will not last long. With Veselin Topalov(one of the names on the list) being Bulgarian, I am very familiar with recent development in chess, and I am also surprised the get rate on that ...

Re: Monday, November 14, 2016 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Technically, Simeon II of Bulgaria was the last monarch to be called czar (or tsar, but both work for the clue), in fact, ol' Simmy, deposed in 1946, is still around and kicking today, and was his country's Prime Minister in the early part of this century! So he truly was the "last monarch to hold ...

Re: Tuesday, November 1, 2016 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Interestingly, while Albania was my answer, I was not sure of it at all. My first thought was Austria, but I was certain that Austria had never been in the Warsaw Pact. So, my thoughts went to Bulgaria, which I knew was a Warsaw Pact country but I wasn't sure if they were one of the Eastern Bloc co...

Re: Secret Bunker News

I DVR'ed the Wednesday, Oct. 19th game, but I just found out that it was preempted by severe weather warning that apparently stayed on for the entire half an hour at least. Since I assume Opus is gone already, can someone who knows the password PM it to me? Thanks in advance :)

Re: Tuesday, October 11, 2016 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Well, I got the obvious LT (given my birthplace) of Andrey and Anatoly, although I might have been second-guessed for the $200 clue, as "Mikhail" is not pronounced with a k sound. Why do you think you would have been second-guessed about it? Given that you were born in Russia, I don't expect J! to ...

Re: LL70: For the LLamas

Sometimes my defense makes me think I'm a thief such as the 6(3)-4(4) victory I woke up to discover. I felt I deserved a loss just by not getting Marbury. Congrats on the win! I was surprised that you missed Marbury too, in fact I was so sure you would get both Aldi and Marbury that I gave t...

Re: 2016 Summer Hiatus Challenge - Round 6 Instant Replay Thread (SPOILERS)

For the hidden cities I eliminated the spaces and turned the uppercase letters into lowercase ones. It was then like reading a line of a word search puzzle and I found five cities. I have no idea about their populations, but I was happy to see the answers from other boardies matched mine to keep me...
