Identify Colorado on a map, for $1,600, in a TOC? That may be too easy.

I've caught up on all of these.
well, almost. :) Mine is downright nonsensical at this point.
Maybe change it to:
Chump, chum for JH, or champ? TBD in Nov

(just the underlined bit if space is tight...)
<sigh>
let's go with "Boy, this was fun! :)"

Re: Monday, November 11, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Does anyone else wish they'd used another word besides "ostentatious" in WORDS THAT USE ALL 5 VOWELS? It seems a shame to start the category with a six-vowel word when all the other responses had exactly five. Yes, and I was also surprised that they avoided FACETIOUS and/or ABSTEMIOUS. (perhaps dee...

Re: Monday, November 11, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Dhruv's FJ! response made it difficult for Alex to speak as it was obvious the emotion was hitting him. There was also an audible "Aww" from the audience. Like the pro he is, Alex kept it together to conduct the rest of the round. For some chronological context, this was happening the day after Ale...

We in the peanut gallery that day were quick to agree on the brutality of the bugle category.

Re: Thursday, November 7, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The producers will almost certainly do whatever maximizes the odds of James/Emma in the finals. I would expect that, subject to a couple of seemingly hard rules (no QF rematches in the SFs, and attempt at gender distribution), Emma will get one of the softer draws they could give her, James will be...

Re: Tuesday, November 5, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Pretty disappointing episode as there were a bunch of not so difficult misses including the three Daily Doubles. I agree with that first bit of your sentence, the last bit let's just agree to disagree. Metric System was a pretty bad neg... Ain't that the truth! As this point the panic was set...

Re: Tuesday, November 5, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Did anyone else take exception to Rob's placement of an S at the end of Cracker Jack Handey? I let it go because I thought there could have been a possessive in the latter part of the clue (like "writer whose 'Deep Thoughts' were...") and didn't want to go back and check, but with the game archived...

Manx is Isle of Man. Mancs has never been an abbreviation for Mancunians that I’ve ever seen. J is getting sloppy.
well it was casual (impolite, even) usage but I had definitely heard the term "manc" referencing a Mancunian.

Re: Tuesday, November 5, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Was it just me or was there a big edit before Rob called Dark Ages for $1600? I agree there was a blatant edit there, but I don't recall anything unusual happening that forced them to stop the tape. My only "criticism" is that with 3 TSes before the DD, it didn't seem like you were comfortable enou...

Re: Alex Trebek Announces Diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer

If Alex can't handle five shows in a taping day that will complicate things for the tournament quarterfinals since players are supposed to be sequestered until their QF is taped. (The upcoming ToC was presumably taped before the taping schedule changed, but this would apply for the other tourneys l...

My one flub on the night was mixing up Canada's two "colorful" territorial capitals, Whitehorse (Yukon) and Yellowknife (Northwest Territories). Any ideas on a mnemonic device for those two? Y does not go with Y has worked for me over the years including today. That's always been my goto, as well.....

Re: Monday, September 9, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

It was surprising to see the return of "athlete's foot" as a response to "tinea pedis." This was pretty much the same clue that Gilbert Collins had when going for his 5th win, as a Daily Double with a $2,000 bet. He got negged when he answered "ringworm." I was one of the opponents, and when we bro...

RTFQ!! Saw "Titicaca" first, and my morning brain could only see Latin South America. THEN I go on to read "Roman engineer emperor " in the next clue, which sent me so far off track that the useful "famous drawing" hint did me no good. (Some famous drawing of Augustus??) RTFQ!! A spreadsheet with stats for the 2019 ToC players: https://i.ibb.co/3csMvNj/ToC2019.jpg Lots of numbers mean many ways to have something wrong so please let me know if I need to correct anything.
