Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), April 9, 2019

44/50. Should've been 45 but I thought it was Hainesberry instead of Hansberry. Even dumber was saying Hudson instead of East River.

Re: Monday, April 1, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Instaget FJ for me. I've read the collection in question as well as all the Poirot novels.

I was disappointed by how easy they made the "They Adapted My Book." All of those were airport novels.

Steven may regret saying the Smorgasbordello was his kind of place, considering we know he is married.

French and Indian War was just way too easy for a Daily Double of this magnitude.

Re: Monday, March 4, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Looks like I'll be in the minority not checking the box for this FJ. I never got anywhere close. I associate "Ancient" too strongly with Greece and Rome. I wound up with The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, which I know wouldn't be it. I wonder if strategically, Ken or Brad thought about trying to av...

Re: Friday, March 1, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The wildcard match turned out to be something of a letdown with no correct FJ answers in either game. When the clue popped up tonight I was surprised they went with something so easy with so much on the line. I never would have guessed it would be a TS. It would have been great to see Alex, Brad, an...

Re: Friday, February 22, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

It's a tough FJ because Goldman isn't as famous as the major suffragettes, but anyone who has read E.L. Doctorow's Ragtime should have gotten it pretty quickly. At least, that's what worked for me. Watching Alex consistently beat Brad on the buzzer was absolutely thrilling. No offense to Brad, but i...

Re: Adult Online Test: Apr 9, 10, 11

I guess I've been spoiled, but I'm a little annoyed that neither NYC or Philadelphia are audition cities. I've been on three previous auditions and they've all been in Manhattan. I hope they're not tired of people from my area being on the show.

Being half Scottish definitely helped make this FJ easier for me. If you ever find yourself in Edinburgh, the Writer's Museum there has a lot of artifacts from Stevenson's time in Samoa.

Re: Monday, December 31, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

On FJ, I spent the entire time debating between Lawrence and Ronan. (The Oscars is a bit of a specialty of mine.) I had seen Ronan on a talk show recently where she mentioned being 24, and I knew Lady Bird was her second Best Actress nomination. I still settled on Lawrence because I remembered her b...

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

I can't believe someone could walk away on the Charlie Duke question. I had no idea who Charlie Duke was and it's still a really easy question. Obviously people younger than 36 have become billionaires, like Mark Zuckerberg. Even if they kept official records for the youngest person to become a gran...

Re: Thursday, November 1, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Any reason I should know Minor for $200 was home runs and not any other baseball stat? The clue referenced Crash Davis, Kevin Costner's character from Bull Durham who famously sets the minor league home run record during the events of the film. As you can imagine, it's something of a dubious honor ...

The category name is fine. "Hyphenate" is commonly used in the parlance of show business and in other fields like sports. Does anyone really think "People with hyphenated names" would be a limitation they would put on a Final Jeopardy category? Daniel Day-Lewis is the only hyphenated name I can thin...

Am I a jerk if I rooted against Michael because of the proposal? I just intensely dislike public proposals, especially on TV or on the Jumbotron at a ballgame. In this specific incident it also felt like the act of someone who was overconfident that they would win. Maybe I'm projecting but I wouldn...

Re: FJs for the 2/19/18 week

5/5 for me on the week. First time I've been able to say that in a while. I used to play Newcomb in middle school, but I thought it was "Nukem" like the Duke Nukem video game character. Viola Davis should have two Oscars already. It's a crime she lost to Streep's Iron Lady the year she was up for Th...
