Re: New old games in the J! Archive

I would have had to vote absentee to vote and nobody running motivated me enough to go to the trouble.

********* Note to the 45 (HA! now 50) early birds looking in on today's 7/16/18 thread: The early Montgomery airing was interrupted after 12 clues of the DJ! round for special report of Putin and Trump speaking. The next airing of J! I can access is out of Cleveland, MS at 10PT. Until the daily thr...

Thought about Magellan but went with Rocky for the solve.

Four state capitals are named for presidents. Knowing them can come in handy.

Yes, we had the possibility of a tie-breaker but I was pretty sure Michelle wasn't going to bet it all.

I remember the book being used as a clue and we had to say which moonwalker wrote it.

After her timid bets yesterday I was not surprised she left the door wide open for third place today.

FJ was a quick solve here. Add me to those wondering how he got Sagan out of that. Tough break for him after channeling his grandfather’s courage on the DD.

The category made me think it would be a book that was made into a blockbuster movie so it was a quick solve for me.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

There is a typo in the Hirohito clue as well.

Only 50 clues played and just 33 correct responses and Gary only rang in six times. Pretty crappy prizes as well.

I got spoiled when the J Facebook page popped up in my newsfeed with the musical name. But I think I would have gotten it so I will check the box Saturday. I guess Wes didn’t go on any agricultural tours while in Turkey. Another Blackish get from LL here. Good win for Wes where he didn’t have to do ...

The $100 clue in US States is still correct.
Google? Or did you call it?
I called it and a lady answered and said "Louisiana tourism". I thought about asking her if she knew the number was featured in a clue on Jeopardy! 28 years ago, but I just hung up.

It gave the years of his reign. Just know he was king for a very long time. French monarchs aren’t as popular with the writers as the British ones are. So if it is about a French king who was on the throne forever, it is definitely going to be Louis XIV.

The Sinclair Lewis DD is my pavlov-to-drill for today. That might be good to know. I said Thorton Wilder, thinking it was from Our Town. I had no clue on FJ. I figured that the best bet on a TOM was to look at Cerasus from the etymological angle, but I got nowhere. I guessed pomegranates. Same here...

I would have thought a landscaper would know Briggs & Stratton. This is a great point! I get that everybody didn't have the rural/redneck/hillbilly experience so the TS didn't surprise me. You were spotted "brigs", and couldn't get this? For you urbanites, the B&S engine is the small gas engine tha...

Nixon wasn’t a horrible guess. He fits into the “more than one and less than two terms” group. If you don’t know when he resigned it as good a guess as any. Under the pressure of time and lights it isn’t easy to run through them all.

This took a bit of thinking, but I got there after a detour with Wes' question. But McKinley died in September, while FDR died in April.

Glad to see Wes' savvy wager paid off. I was hoping to see Lauren be really gutsy and bet small herself, but we can't have everything.

The Denver affiliate is pre-empting for something call Big 3 Basketball. I didn't even watch the NBA finals, why the %*^#@)! do they think I'll watch this crap? Yep, second evening this week. People pay money to see retired out-of-shape athletes play meaningless 3-on-3 basketball. Sheesh. Usually, ...

I tied my career highs in correct answers (69) and match points (86). Also tied highs for my time in D in wins (11) and finish (11th). I would have broken all those if I hadn't gone with either Sonora or Jet the last two days. Oh well.
