Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Central), October 5, 2016

Once again it looks like I chose my worst night to take the test. Last night I would have had 42/50. I'd be shocked if I hit 30 tonight.

EDIT: 35 tonight. Better than I thought, but still kicking myself.

Re: LL70: For the LLamas

My first trip to Rundle A was a bit of a mixed bag. I spent most of LL70 with a rundle average TCA but near the top in CAA. A ten-day stretch with just one win left me in the relegation zone after MD19, but I managed to win five of the final six to end up in 19th. I'm just glad the schedule wasn't p...

Re: LL70: For the LLamas

Perfectly average in my rundle for TMP and TCA through MD5.

The results in the standings, meanwhile:

I would like to get off of Rundle A's Wild Ride now, please and thank you.

A Metro here. I am very excited to get back to the daily trivia grind, however madcap, hellbound, etc.

Re: Sports Jeopardy Online Test Registration

I signed up as soon as I found out, even though I had watched maybe two episodes prior to that. I've been watching the old episodes lately. SJ is a really well-done show.

I haven't had much luck with the random selection for the regular show, so maybe the sports version will be a nice change of pace!

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

It's Renaissance Group 70 for me. We've got a recent J! tournament finalist, and I'll get to take a shot at one of my LL70 opponents before the real thing starts in August. This should be fun after the week off, especially since I decided at the last second to do the Mystery Theme ML, too.

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

My opponent was from Rock Island, IL. That was the easiest 0 I've ever assigned my opponent. For some reason, despite me having over a .900 QPct on geography, he gave me three. I have a similar geography percentage and live in Illinois on top of that. My opponent still gave me a three. Turned out t...

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

As long as I don't forfeit any of the last three MDs, I'm heading to A. I'm excited for the challenge (especially defensively) but also glad for a bit of offseason before entering the fray. I've been a lot less consistent from day to day compared to last season, with a lot more lucky guesses.

Re: HUGE help needed for the June 17th airing...

Not sure if anyone is still following this or has made other plans, but for any other Chicagoans out there interested in watching/recording, my TV guide is showing a 1:05am airing tonight. I'm watching the baseball game and haven't seen a crawl about it yet (probably will when 3:30 gets closer) but ...

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

MD16 wasn't pretty for me: a 1(2)-5(2) loss. My opponent's only 2 were the ones with the lowest get rates. I had two more questions on the tip of my tongue, but had I pulled out those answers, all I would have gotten was my first-ever Buckner loss.

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

I'm usually not big on superstition with numbers, but this MD13 was when all my good defense ran out and left me with the 2(3)-3(2) loss.

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

I have a DE of .879 so this season. My opponents collectively have an .852 DE against me. It's been a nailbiting ride so far.

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

Reading through the questions for MD7: The "method school" of acting is regularly linked to what famed acting teacher, ... "That's probably Stanislavsky, right?" ...who advocated the Stanislavsky-influenced style... #$@&%!! At least my Hail Mary guess of James Lipton got me my first MCW of the season.

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

From the Heinz corporate website "Trivia Page": What does the “57” stand for in Heinz’s famous slogan, “57 Varieties?” While riding a train in New York City in 1896, Henry Heinz saw a sign advertising 21 styles of shoes, which he thought was clever. Although Heinz was manufacturing more than 60 pro...

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

Anybody else put Pulp Fiction instead of Forrest Gump? I remembered the final scene took place in a diner, so I was so sure I got that one right that I didn't even consider anything else. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be Forrest  That was pretty much me. I saw 1994 and "theme r...

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

I knew my opponent was really good at classical music, but I also knew that MD5Q1 was insanely difficult. I went for the gutsy move to give him a 0 for it anyway. It paid off, turning what could have been a loss into a 5(4)-5(4) tie. For MD6, I face RautY, who should have been in an A Rundle by now,...

Re: LL69: for the LLama Drama

The game is now closed on my side of America, so I'm assuming it should be safe to post. For the sake of caution, however, I'll use spoilers. I went with larynx instead of bronchi, and said Diehard instead of Die Hard. I don't know if that counts as a neg. It closes at the same time no matter where...

Here's a last call for my TV Shows Change by a Letter quiz, half TV trivia and half bad wordplay. Some obscure, some easy, all silly. It says the deadline is noon EDT Tuesday, but I'll be grading that later in the day. Also this week, I have the general knowledge Happy Things for After You've Seen G...

Re: Did We Know The Power Players?

I watched the whole week of shows and still don't remember about half of these people. Had we gotten a news person from NPR and fewer from CNN or MSNBC, I would have been a bit more familiar. Steve Inskeep or Audie Cornish on Jeopardy? Sign me up.
