Re: Tuesday, June 12, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Another solid victory by Catherine, complete with the correct all-in Daily Double bet. I like her calm, professional approach, and it shows in the results.

Literature is one of my strongest areas, while children's lit is not. This was still an instaget, though.

Re: Monday, June 11, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I feel I might regret this but... Out of curiosity, why did you wait until right before FJ, with your adrenaline high and blood pumping, to consider these scenarios? Why didn't you run through all these potential scenarios (of which there aren't that many) weeks or months before you were on your sh...

Re: Monday, June 11, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I'll admit the Simpsons clip was only for the benefit of those on this board with a sense of humor and a modicum of self-awareness. Now, how did you posit your original question to the contestant? "Out of curiosity," was it? Very graciously, she had already shared her experience and recou...

Re: Monday, June 11, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Was I the only one thrown off the You Only Live Twice Triple Stumper by the awful wording on the question? I thought they were asking for the post-Fleming Bond spin-off, not the original Fleming Bond that inspired it. David shot himself in the foot with countless negs, many of them wild guesses. He ...

I'm not Korean, but I got 4/5 in that category. My girlfriend made fun of me for missing bulgogi, as I frequently eat it, too. The entire category was easy if you live in any city with a fair number of Asian restaurants.

Re: Thursday, June 7, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Surprised no producer caught that Alex didn't give the correct answer to a triple stumper and had him rerecord the line. The trio wasn't particularly strong at either television or literature, an unusual combo. However, Mirza appears to a be very strong player and possible super-champion. Missed FJ;...

Re: Tuesday, June 5, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

This was definitely one of the weakest games all season. Joe played okay, blowing 2 DDs which ranged from gettable to downright easy (Prince Henry the Navigator), and being part of many simple Triple Stumpers...only to finish with a monster lock. Like others, I'm happy Leslie finished in second at t...

Re: Monday, June 4, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

This is bizarre. I thought FJ would be a triple-get and could not believe it was in fact a triple-stumper. I fully expected to come here and everyone would be saying they couldn't believe no one got it right. How wrong I was. Even though I got it wrong, I can understand why you would be surprised. ...

Amusing that the only miss which spoiled my perfect week was on a FJ that polled at 81%, higher than any of the others and any of the three questions. In related news, I'm very poor at classical music.

Trying to come up with something positive to say about FJ because we all want the three contestants to come here and offer their thoughts. They all wagered positive numbers. Haha, well said. On a positive note, it's nice of the trio to present the viewers a masterclass on how not to wager. That bei...

Re: Friday, June 1, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Jeff's streak came to an end following a solid performance by Ian. FJ only required remembering that Nixon was born in California, and then not being able to think of any other President born that far West in the continental US.

Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Hello all! Regarding my play: On $30K, I was leaning toward BILLY, but wanted a bit of confirmation from the audience. During the commercial break after the question, the warmup comedian asked who in the audience actually knew the correct answer instead of just ...

Re: Thursday, May 31, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Skyler impressed me multiple moments during the episode, but she whiffed at some crucial moments, and not just in terms of her responses. Think of how drastically the game changes if she goes all-in on her first round DD. In that case, she already has a lock when she finds that last DD, and if she ...

Re: Millionaire 2017-18 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

I like Ian's aggressive play on the $30,000 question. With that in mind, I'm surprised he didn't pull the trigger on the $50k one. He is risking $25k to win an extra $20k AND get a free crack at $100k, which, even assuming a pure guess (1/4), has a value of $50k/4= $12,500. Ergo, even with a pure 50...

Wow. As soon as FJ was finished, I turned to my girlfriend and said "Man, Jeff has to be disappointed as hell right now. He is in a close second, but with THIS easy of a FJ, a classic 3/3 if I've ever seen one, there is NO WAY he can win." And then, as the answers were read, my jaw just ke...

Very smart, controlled play throughout on your part. Also, did you intentionally or unintentionally skew t...

Jeffrey's DD wagering is troubling, and he needed a bit of luck, but he beat a solid champion in Virginia. I swept 3 categories and got 4/5 in virtually all the other ones except for Oklahoma history, where I was a perfect 0/5. Been a long time since that happened on a history category for me. Thoug...

File this one under 'probably not J! material but interesting nonetheless'.
