Re: Tuesday, December 12, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

This Final reminded me of a TOC Final from 2015:

I've also seen the movie, so this fortified my answer right away.

Ben, congratulations again on your run. I wouldn't get too caught up in what the Internet says. People will forget and move on fairly quickly. Savor the moment; you've earned it.

Re: Monday, December 11, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Those of you who are old enough may remember that I know nothing about betting. So please explain Charlie's FJ bet to me. Thank you. The only way Charlie can win is if LaKedra gets Final incorrect. Assuming she wagers to cover Charlie, which she did, an incorrect response would bring her score down...

Re: Monday, December 11, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I've seen a lot of frustrated contestants over the years, trying to ring in but always getting beaten to the buzzer, but this might be the first time I've heard someone ring in that loudly. Yikes. Hope they had a spare signaling device handy. The devices are fairly durable. No need to worry about t...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

I also would have said at least double the 300 and would not be shocked if it was near 1000 Given how easy it is for Jeopardy players to keep in contact with their taping brethren and how one becomes an LL member, I think 1,000 is not a bad guess. A player who was on Friday’s show started a thread ...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

I'm torn. On one hand, "scullery" refers to something completely different from sculling and I think the former should be considered a "close but no cigar" answer. On the other hand, acceptance of "scullery" is my margin of victory, and I'm at #4 in an A rundle at more than two thirds of the way th...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

When I saw yesterday’s answers, I realized I had done a bad job of assigning points. I said to myself, man, I kinda hope PrussC just got them all right, so I can keep my high DE. Lucky(?) for me, she obliged. Congrats! Don't worry - I grabbed a screen capture of Cyndi in first place in AMag. Yay! I...

Re: Wednesday, December 6, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Took me a while to dredge up FJ. Long enough that light pen issues would have arisen. I managed to get it all down in time with pencil and paper, so I'm counting it. Wonder if "Roberts Rules" would suffice? I think that would be allowed. Colloquially, the phrase is often amended to "Robert's Rules"...

As a Knight of Columbus who is a Council Advocate/Parliamentarian, I thoroughly enjoyed this Final. Now if only we could apply these rules a bit more in society.

I'm obviously too dumb to be Alex's successor.

But I can do a decent impersonation of Johnny Gilbert, so maybe I can be HIS successor
I kind of now hope this came up in your Wheel episode in some fashion.

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

The word 'suspended' totally threw me off and I kept thinking of the Spider-Man musical or things with marionettes or Pippin, you know, stuff like that. I was about to give the Spider-Man musical as my joke answer as well, but when I re-read it and honed in on "singular performance" I made the swit...

Re: Friday, November 24, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I wondered if the JFK category might contain Andrew Robinson, of Dirty Harry fame. Too obscure, I know. Marcus's wardrobe today kind of made me wish I'd gone to my last audition in my favorite Hawaiian shirt, which looks a lot like the one he sported. Good way to get noticed? That shirt perfectly s...

Re: Tuesday, November 21, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Eric's TDD in the first round was nice to see, Kiana's DD wager was lacking, Wilbur's was acceptable, I wonder if the contestants had more clue than we did as to the amount of time left in the round. Regarding knowing how much time is left: other than the "less than a minute" warning, there is no c...

Re: Tuesday, November 21, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

From re-watching that Final, Kiana began writing almost immediately and took almost all 30 seconds to get the correct Final. Wilbur started writing about 15 seconds in and probably needed about 5 more seconds to get that right. That's pretty much akin to running out of timeouts at the end of a footb...

Re: TD 359 - Remix (Q1 - Q8 revealed)

Regarding... 7. Bible Culture (TD 350): There are 7 sets of "1st/2nd" books (see bonus round for the lone "1st/2nd/3rd" set) in the Bible. Name one of these 14 books. (Example: If there were 1st & 2nd Ezra, then either 1 Ezra or 2 Ezra would be a correct response.) Would you have accepted 1/2 Maccab...

Re: Tuesday, November 14, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Can someone point to similar prior examples of someone expressing frustration so outwardly on Jeopardy? It definitely struck me as unusual, starting really at the beginning of DJ. The audition process would very likely tend to select away from such a disposition, which would presumably be even rare...
