Re: Monday, March 16, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Shower thought this morning (seriously) - would a contestant get dinged for "Singing In The Rain"? Different situation than Gangsta's/Gangster's Paradise.

Re: Monday, January 20, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

UNIVAC! Dang. I said ENIAC with such confidence. Any rules of thumb on when to guess which one? I also bit it on this one. From a little research, it looks like "first computer/WW2" is a good guideline for ENIAC and "early 1950s/Census/1952 election/first commercially available computer" is UNIVAC....

Traci here -- I am in fact good at the "fun stuff" I guess? I'm also good at the non-fun stuff. :) And yes, that DD wager haunts me to this day.
You looked and played super composed, Traci! Sorry it didn't work out in the end but you played a game we should all be lucky enough to emulate.

5???????

what was your score on this test?
I think I nailed it. 50/50. For the first and hopefully last time.

And it's been a journey. 4 in-persons before now:

2007 (Boston)
2009 (Boston)
2013 (Niagara Falls)
2017 (Minneapolis)

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

Got the invite for Columbus the other day, but waited to share just because I wanted to confirm there wouldn't be an eligibility snafu because of WWTBAM. Guess I should be extra glad I aired during Week 1 last season!

Will the 5th time be the charm?

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

I am still waiting to hear on Columbus as a audition invite site, but as someone in the 1 year game show blackout until September, I'm in no hurry for it to happen.

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

I do appreciate that they've mostly gone back to basics with the format. But Chris Harrison is so dry and uncharismatic that.. okay, he's SLIGHTLY better than Ty Treadway, I won't go that far. YMMV on whether or not you like a host on TV, but I can personally attest that in-studio, Chris Harrison d...

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

Seriously Brian? You went to Florence, but you didn't go to the UFFIZI!?! It is literally the most important site in the city. I'm guilty of that. The lines were super long, we only had 2 days in town, and I was exhausted. There is a lot to do there especially if you're more into history than art.

Yes, credit to crosswords for ERNE.
I knew the word from crosswords, but not the animal type! Made me think fish. Glad it wasn't in my stack.
But the clue is almost always, "Sea eagle".
Forgive me for mentally mixing it up with "chicken of the sea".

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

The pudu is a favorite of Jeopardy! alum Bob Harris. Yeah, when she didn't immediately lock in A, I thought, "Too bad, she hasn't read Prisoner of Trebekistan ." Crap, I've read it twice and didn't remember that at all. And yet thanks to both Scrabble and TV, I could tell you what FUGU and KURU are...

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

Millionaire will be in reruns 12/17 - 12/21 & 12/24 - 12/28 for sure and I would expect 12/30 - 1/4/19 as well. These three weeks (The B games) were shown in double run markets to open the season. For those areas that only get one game a day these shows will be new and first run. About time! My epi...

Re: Tuesday, December 4, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The FJ! clue was a no huddle snap for processing and writing to be done before the music. I was prepared to do a 32-team speed round in 30 seconds if necessary as I spent the break making sure I could instantly recall the teams in their 4-team division blocks. Nope, not necessary. I got it down qui...

This same question came up in the last couple of weeks on a trivia app -- HQ or Confetti, I forget which -- and many of us agreed, including me.

Too bad he didn't say he wanted to "poll the audience" (as many contestants do). The producers specifically ask you NOT to state it that way. Always say "Ask the Audience". I know, but some still do. I think contestants would be forgiven for a pun that pointed. (Or blunted, here.)

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

I've just been wondering, does anyone know if the $1,000 audience contestants are still eligible to participate in the future as regular contestants? I have no idea, but do you know what the odds are? Especially if you're not young and pretty/handsome? Pretty small that you're picked for either, an...
