Re: Thursday, October 14, 2004 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I was between Lindbergh and Howard Hughes and went the wrong way, thinking it could have marked the latter's retreat from public life. There seemed to be an edit after Ken's response of Tina Yothers. Anyone know if that's how it aired in 2004? I noticed that as well. I don't know how it aired in 20...

Re: Tuesday, December 15, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

For those wondering about the provenance of tonight's FJ!...it (partially) came from The Man himself... https://twitter.com/Jeopardy/status/1339057665935175682?s=20 The issue came out on August 11, so if the show was taped on September 30th, that was certainly enough time for the contestants to hav...

Re: TD 455 - Year-End Closeout [Q1-Q2 revealed]

While I'm saddened to see only 15 of us playing in a TD (and a good one, at that), I think that does guarantee me a Top 15 finish! Unless I finish behind the All Sheep Line, that is.

Re: Fun with NBC's "The Weakest Link"

I missed the Peppa Pig question (my two young kids wanted to know the question, as we turned it on just as the person being voted off that round said she was sorry she didn't know about Peppa). Can anyone help as to what the question was? Thanks. What type of animal is Peppa was the essence of the ...

Re: Fun with NBC's "The Weakest Link"

I doubt I could ever be on this show. I know that I'd be yelling, "STOP BANKING AFTER EVERY SINGLE QUESTION!" several times each round. At least in the first round you are pretty clearly wrong. Other rounds Im not entirely sure of the optimal strategy. Honestly there are only two optimal strategies...

I just watched Alex’s Cheers appearance on demand last night. Still as funny now as it was way back then.
I never met Mr. Trebek but he will still be missed.

Re: TD 453 - Quiz Bowl [Q1-Q5 revealed]

I'm sure that if there was a question along the lines of "name any number from 1-100, inclusive", that somehow I would find the sheep. I'm sure multiple people would pick...

Re: TD 452 - Record Collection [Q1-Q7 revealed]

Did the reverse psychology on Q6: Everyone will remember Richard Hatch (if only for his tax issues), but no one will want to put him down, so I'll go with him instead of dropping Q6.

And surely everyone will put down Conga for Q7, so I'll drop that one. Oh well, so close, yet so far...

Re: TD 450 - Best Laid Plans... [Final results]

Congrats to the winners and to clt013 for another great quiz.
Now if I had only stuck to sports on Q9, as I typically do. Either sports answer (Cool Papa Bell or the Lightning) would have put me in a tie for first. But no complaining with my second-ever podium finish!

Enjoy the weekend, all!

Re: TD 446 - Random Trivia Quiz - Scores through Q4

Saarinen was the sheep on Q3 with six, but L’Enfant and Pei were two each. The mind reels... That's how I feel about Sinclair and Texaco on Q4. I thought Sinclair was an old-timey gas station, but apparently it's just out in the western US. I'm in the east, so.... Also surprised that Susan B. Antho...

Re: TD 445 - Prime Time [Final results]

I'm humbled and excited for my first TD victory; glad to share it with Gamawire! I'd like to thank MLS for selecting St. Louis as its 28th member earlier this year (I believe Miami will be joining as well, so that's how I gathered there were 26 MLS franchises scheduled to play this year, otherwise I...

Re: TD 445 - Prime Time [Q1-Q7 revealed]

Word up, you need to be looking in the rear view mirror. Floridagator and merica both are dope at playing this game. I'll be back to the all sheep line soon enough, thank you. eta - I've possibly got a wrong answer coming up on the numbered TV show and maybe even question 11, which will prob...

Re: WWTBAM returns to primetime

I enjoy Millionaire (regular contestant version); and I didn't mind the Eric Stonestreet round either. But as soon as they allowed whoever that was to change her answer, I turned off the TV and don't plan to watch these episodes again. Her charity was already getting $32,000 anyway; boot her out and...

Re: TD 443 - Hoops... (Q1-Q2 revealed)

I'm so glad I changed my answers to the first two questions just before submitting. That way I could chalk up two sheep right at the start! Had two answers ready to go that ultimately went unused (Baltimore and Dubuque Hams). Oh well, at least nothing has changed about TD in the last month.
