Mary Ann annoys me. I don't know why, but I hope she doesn't end up as a 10-time champion after the teen tourney.
Time for 2 weeks of Kardashianesque pop culture during the dreaded teen tournament. Better bone up on my Dancing With The Stars knowledge.

Re: Monday, November 5, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Gerald would've gotten one last chance at breaking into the black if there hadn't been a sponsored category (National Geographic) plus for another movie opening this week starring an actress I've never heard of. I was pulling for him after he went all-in on his DD. I guess I've resigned myself to th...

Re: Thursday, November 1, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Jeff missed his one chance at avoiding a runaway by not knowing his legal-thriller authors: John Grisham is most associated with Mississippi/Deep South and Scott Turow with Chicago. As it turned out, neither knew the two FJ rivers (only Kathleen, who was not a factor in the rest of the game), so it ...

Richard Branson was my only guess on FJ even though I knew the segue is anything but a household device.

Adam and Swapna appeared to be impersonating a pair of wax dummies from Madame Toussaud's in the first half of DJ. Thank goodness Swapna came to life in the second half to avoid a lock game. A lot of younger viewers were probably scratching their heads after the FJ reveal. "How can chocolate syrup s...

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]
OOOOH, I better catch up. I didn't get any theater questions in my game, but I recently saw a question about a musical featuring the song 'Halloween' and I had no clue, so really there are no easy questions on Millionaire . Correction: There are no easy questions beyond the $5,000 level on Milliona...

Re: Wednesday, October 24, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
For the second time in a few weeks, ABC has seen fit to preempt Jeopardy! in Houston (1 p.m.) for a pointless, unnecessary "Special Bulletin" with information that could've been gleaned, for people who crave such useless minutiae, from PBS, CNN or any one of a dozen or so other networks that carry ...

Re: Monday, October 22, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I feel like this FJ was essentially a "you know it or you don't" type. Yes, I'm sure it was possible to use the hints and come up with it, but I'm skeptical that many people who had never heard this fact before actually came up with the correct response. I did not, by the way. I think you're massiv...

Re: Monday, October 22, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
The year had me thinking of Nixon and California so I guessed on Palm Springs. Ms. Post seemed a likely socialite resident of that high-dollar neighborhood. Flabbergasted by the four TS's on "Cowboys." Having grown up in Houston, Travolta was an easy get. But I thought every American schoolchild kne...

On Colonial for $400, I said "Marry" for the amount of land or livestock a man needed to do something. I knew only property owning males could vote in Colonial America but never realized states had placed such specific strictures on it.

Re: Wednesday, October 17, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I hate it when AT says things like, "Are you sure you wouldn't like to go to a different category after three straight TS's on "band books." I was 3/3 and hoping to run the category. Sure enough Julie switched over, and none of them went back to "Band Books" until it had the only two clues remaining...

I am proud of the fact I only got "Empire Strikes Back" in the Star Wars category. Seriously? An entire category on a mediocre sci-fi franchise that peaked with Episode IV (the origional) and has regressed consistently since?

Re: What Determines For Whom You Root on Jeopardy?
I'll add that, as someone else said, I tend to root for anyone not from one of the usual professions (e.g. college professor, librarian, lawyer). If a contestant says he/she is an electrician or bartender, they automatically become my guy/gal. Also any contestant who calls for a sports category firs...

Re: Friday, October 12, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I think a lot of people on this board would have solved FJ with either the date in which the novel begins or the "mob violence" thing. That did it for me. The process of elimination knowing neither David Copperfield nor Oliver Twist nor Great Expectations had any mob violence. We'll see in a few mo...

Re: What Determines For Whom You Root on Jeopardy?
I tend to pull for defending champs just for constancy, unless they happen to be one of those who jumps all over the board from one category to another. That annoys me more than anything else, because it is difficult to follow at home when we can't see the full category on our screens. Hence a categ...
