Re: 2017 Current Events Study Guide

On Friday, Feb. 9, South Korea officially becomes the second Asian country (after Japan) to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics.

Today is the 50th anniversary of the release (or drop, as they say in the music biz) of the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," June 1, 1967. Not sure how that would come up in a question.

Re: Friday, November 17, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Anyone else notice Austin giving a shout-out to "my bartenders" then naming several during the intros? There was some speculation here during his first run that Austin was not just a bartender (as he was identified), and was in fact a restrauteur. Apparently that is the case. He may take his round-t...

Lach Trash: hero sandwich, hunch, South Dakota, caballero, spoonerism, period Buzzy was given credit for hero sandwich after the break so that's no LT. I know because that was my response and I was saying, "Wait a minute! That looked like a ham sandwich to me." With the 1804 date, I knew it had to ...

I am also surprised they didn't give Austin credit for "transsexual" since it does also have 11 letters and it did used to be the term even though it's not in favor now.
You're right. Transsexual was the accepted term in the 90s, and it fits the category. Austin was robbed.

Still peeved about not requiring Roman numerals after Popes Urban, and Benedict. Would "Henry" be acceptable for a clue asking for Henry VIII?. Also no BMS on "eclipse"?

Guessed VR on FJ, but now I know any clue with "technology" and "2007" will be Pavlov for iPhone.

I'm going with Lisa to win the whole enchilada because she is such a cool cucumber and her knowledge of millennial pop culture is nonpareil, and I'm certain one of those will come up as a FJ category in the finals. J! writers love pop culture.

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

To be fair, GoT doesn’t have a 100% share - I haven’t seen it either - so I’d say it is a YEKIOYD, you’d know it if you watch. (I also went with “Eragon”). Second box perhaps, but not top. But ink, yeah, no excuse. Never seen an episode of GoT because I don't get HBO, so that's three of us. In fact...

If you must know I have pretty much stopped watching this show. I find the judges too nitpicky. Like the lady who got dinged for Stella D'Artois or not saying "arc welding". Haha, I was watching and when she said "Stella D'Artois" and Alex accepted, I was going "No way! It's not D'Artois!" Then the...

You starte...

Bring Back Austin!!!

This Show sucks without him.
You'll get your wish next month (ToC). He tied Seth Wilson for most games won (12).
