Some of these clues seemed a bit simple for a GOAT Tournament. I’m OK, You’re OK for the bottom row? And identifying George Burns by his picture? And Morticia Addams was a TS? What did they watch after school as a kid?

I checked the box for Catch-22 exposure even though I've only seen it as a stage play.

Re: Friday, January 10, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

If it had been a DD and I HAD to answer... that's what I'd have been forced to say, for want of not knowing the name of another position! Would NEVER have rung in. Not too many to remember: goalie, center, defenseman, wing (left and right). And “forward”, a collective term for centres and wings. It...

After clue 3 Karen was in the red and in last place as she blew DD1. The loss was only $1000 as Karen only got half of the Anna Karenina cities. She got the non-capital and then said nothing for the second part. Alex was as incredulous as viewers with, "Go for the obvious..." In the book and at the...

I'm familiar with the origin story of Swanson's TV Dinners, but I'm also an admirer of "Saddlesore Swanson" (voiced by Chill Wills) from the old America Sings attraction at Disneyland.

Someone explain to me the Napoleon TS. I didn't see anything in the clue pointing to him, either. 19th century general and head of state...how many can you name? I thought it was Garibaldi. Didn't look Teutonic enough to be von Bismarck, who I think outlived Grant. Also had a bad response for the e...

DD3 had me at a loss also; I never would have gotten to mummy in time. Cheops + "worm" got me to "nasty Egyptian worm-like creature" and left me floundering with "asp." But I couldn't imagine that being the topic of a novel.
But I can imagine the film version: Snakes in a Pyramid.

As Linear Gnome has stated, the unit of pressure equal to 1 mm of Mercury is a Torr and is my preferred unit. Pressure is the muddiest derived unit in Physics - we have SI units of pascals (same guy as the software clue) which are so small you have to use KPa and MPa to be useful - and they aren't....

I said "crucial" for "crux". Judges? The clue doesn't seem to call specifically for the noun vs. the adjective. I got "posse comitatus" because I've been doing a JAG rewatch and it was the title of one of the episodes. I'll register a dissenting opinion from my esteemed colleague and say yes. I thi...

Kind of strange that Johann Bernoulli was answered but not Blaise Pascal. Computer language should have even been a giveaway. If there'd been room in the fourth podium poll, I'd have added a box for "I have programmed in Pascal". I was a little surprised at the wording of the Bernoulli Principle cl...

I was going to say the same thing, but when I searched the thread for "exodus" it only turned up floridagator's post.
It's in Friday's thread.

So best to remember Bizet = Carmen and Carmen = Bizet Cigarette Song = Carmen (which = Bizet) Spanish opera = Carmen Spanish opera composer = Bizet Gypsy = Carmen anything more is too detailed or obscure and enough less likely to come up that it isn't worth being a Pavlov, such as based on a French...
