Re: Friday, January 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
In Maggie’s spot I would have bet $9,998. I would assume the leaders would bet it all but one might hold back a dollar so that thwarts that strategy. If I hated the category I would probably bet nothing. In the lead I would absolutely bet it all. Even if I hated the category. From Maggie's spot the...

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
One thing is for certain these days, people on the left feel a lot more comfortable expressing this hate in public. And they don't seem to understand that outlets like CNN and PBS and NPR are heavily biased in terms of what they choose to report. I don't know where to look for news these days, but ...

Re: Friday, January 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I HATE THE TIEBREAKER Amen. I can't imagine that the reason for it is simply $$, as it can't possibly make that much of a dent in the J! budget if they have to give out two first prizes once per season or so. Doesn't strike me as more emotionally satisfying this way either. I would just hate-hate-h...

Re: Friday, January 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
It's great to see a game with two players both getting the same high score. Really competitive. I was 3/5 on big clues. I said Red Tide instead of Crimson Tide. Since they needed the sports team that's a miss. I missed Cromwell but might have gotten it on a different day. I didn't play well in DJ ex...

For one of the greatest literary sf books and hands down the greatest post-nuclear holocaust book ever. How do you feel about Alas, Babylon? I liked that one. I didn’t like The Road but I’m a big McCarthy fan. I don’t think I’ve heard of the one you recommended but I’m always looking for something ...

I want to see more of the ceramics engineer and the Ph.D. in chemistry discussing the structure of a diamond. I went 2/4 on big clues. Blanked on Calgary for no reason and then guessed Hammett for Final Jeopardy. I've seen the FJ factoid before but I couldn't remember who it was, I went with the fir...

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
Moving the goal posts. “Do you have a source for that?” - “We can’t trust the sources”. Why ask for a source and then say the media can’t be trusted? I think if people are willing to be white nationalists that want to overthrow the government I feel like they’re willing to lie about being white nati...

4/4 on big clues today. I started watching the Crown and there is an episode where the queen insists Buckingham Palace is the seat of the queen. Would have gotten that anyway but it reaffirms my decision to start watching the Crown for Jeopardy reasons just a couple days ago. I should have gotten Ra...

Last time Caligula/Nero come up as a response I missed it and decided to figure it out or use a mnemonic. So that worked.. So? Did you figure something out? Do you have a mnemonic you’d like to share? I used the mnemonic “All Tigers Can Claw Now” to remember the order of Augustus/Tiberius/Caligula/...

Re: Tuesday, January 19, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Didn't get Final Jeopardy. I got stuck trying to think of a car rental place for some reason. Maybe I associate that with business travel. I liked the "Sounds like the movie's sequel" category. The clues were funny. I think Brian mispronounced Maori. I think he said it with 3 syllables instead of 2....

Re: Monday, January 18, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
3/4 on big clues. I'm going to go watch The Crown. It's very popular with the Jeopardy writers and they have good taste. I did really well on almost everything except the music class category. I feel like I should put some time into studying that type of category but it also seems like something tha...

I like Final Jeopardy simply because it's a good piece of trivia.
Queen Elizabeth II has met every US President between Truman and Trump except for LBJ. Good factoid. I missed it with JFK.

A Newsweek poll on January 6th showed that 45% of Republicans supported the assault on the Capitol. Another Newsweek poll today shows that 69% of Republicans believe that antifa was involved or responsible for the incident. I’m used to inconsistency and double talk but this level of gold medal menta...

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
If they want to have a contest between Ken and Aaron to determine which guest host moves on to the next round I'm ok with them throwing footballs at difficult trivia answers to determine the winner.

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
I Think Aaron Rodgers hosting Jeopardy sounds like a great idea. He would potentially bring a lot of fans into the mix since he would appeal to non-nerds and academics, I can see the potential for a lot of new viewers who wouldn’t normally watch the show. I also think he has the basic qualifications...

Re: Monday, January 11, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
There's something about this forum and the homophone categories. It's a frequent issue. Ken did really well. The game should be fast paced. That's part of the fun. I thought he read much faster in the game today than he did as a guest presenter in earlier episodes. Tanay played really well. I missed...
