Re: Monday, February 12, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I've been steering clear of the "J! drinking game" threads. Is "whenever there is a Nebraska reference" one of the suggestions?

Instaget. My wife and I had just watched "The Right Stuff" the night before.

Re: Tuesday, February 6, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I knew the Farmer book, and I'm surprised they asked about it; I would have thought it was too obscure to be Jeopardy material. I don't know any of the other works in that category, but I was able to figure out dark matter. I couldn't decide between "Apology" and "Apologia". I guess it wouldn't have...

Re: Wednesday, January 31, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

For capo di tutti capi , I got stuck in translation goo and spat out " head of all heads" - assume they would have taken that I said "chief of all chiefs". Can I count that? I cycled through every possible translation except boss, chief included. They'd have to accept any reasonable translation Tha...

Was it my DVR or did WLS Chicago have a glitch just as the "Orestes" response was being given?
I noticed a hiccup at some point--that must've been it.
Thanks!

Re: Tuesday, January 23, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Aaargh! I made the entirely unforgivable mistake of forgetting the category. The Strand and a title beginning with "The adventure of ..." led me straight to Sherlock Holmes, but I never made the jump to Mycroft. If I had been paying attention it would have been an instaget.

I thought what the writers did with the "stalagmite" clue was pretty clever.

Were they really not going to accept David's first pronunciation of "clapboard"? In my opinion that's the only correct pronunciation.

No way I was going to miss "Distinguished Flying Cross". My father had two of them.

I wish I had the technical skills to pull an audio clip from a DVD. Because then I could post Courtney B Vance, in The Hunt for Red October, saying "It was Paganini!"

Re: Final Fleming Episode

Wow, does this bring back memories. For some reason I was always fascinated by the cups of water on the desks. Art always, at some point during the game, would use the word "recap". This is where I first learned that word. I had completely forgotten the asterisk design on the backs of the wager cards.

He also starred in My Mother, The Car, considered one of the worst shows in TV history. Wikipedia (do you have your grain of salt handy?) claims he turned down the opportunity to play Gilligan, and turned down the opportunity to succeed Don Knotts on The Andy Griffith Show in order to do My Mother ...

Re: Discussion about old games in the Archive

Strictly speaking, Jeopardy didn't refer to Tibet as a country. It was the contestants who said Tibet; Jeopardy merely accepted that as a valid response. I'm sure they would have accepted China as well.

I knew the quarks because of this.
Watch out, knowing your quarks just from that vid might mislead you someday. They call the t and b quarks "top" and "bottom" but sometimes you will see them called "truth" and "beauty", instead.

For Final I said "What is an airship?" Can I have a ruling from the judges, please?
The Wingfoot generation of Goodyear Blimps are actually semi-rigid, and thus not truly blimps at all. Count it.
Thank you.
