With six pounds of Yukon Gold on hand, I wimped out and only boiled about half of them. ... I shoulda gone all in.
Sounds like a regretful Daily Double. Yep, over-obsessed with wagering.

Re: You guys are obsessed over wagering way too much.

some of you go overboard with it and thats the reason this board can't get many contestants to come here anymore and share their Jeopardy experience with you all cause you are too negative about wagering and the contestants don't want to hear that crap so they don't bother to come here and go elsew...

Re: Thursday, May 17, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Meant to post this earlier, but forgot. By now, many may have deleted the episode, but maybe those who still have it could double-check my hearing. In the clue about the thyroid and adrenal glands, the target answer was "endocrine." I thought I heard Steve's answer as "endocrind" instead of "endocri...

715 - WISCONSIN You know how to do Before and After. Combine two clues into an overlapping answer. Example: Current supreme court justice who wrote the Declaration of Independence: Clarence Thomas Jefferson. INCORRECT - 17 sillymoose (Condoleeza Rice Pudding) Probably my favorite incorrect TD respo...

"I got 'plumbago' on a wild-ass guess" on the poll this week, please. There'll be at least one check, I promise. I said it just to say something, with "plumb" = "lead" as the only hook I had. Archive hits not withstanding, I'll confidently say I've never heard of it before. This is a ToC level FJ, ...

This car is parked around the corner from me and I'm curious what I'm seeing?  Since I'm publicly displaying someone's vehicle and license plate I figure it's better to do it here with limited viewers instead of on Facebook when more would see it. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/980/41275954335_6877...

713 - TEXAS Name an astronaut who walked on the moon or orbited it as part of the Apollo program. Jack Swigert - 2 I don't want to become known as a pedant and certainly don't want to change the standings for the two who named Swigert, but technically Swigert (and Haise) did not orbit the moon on A...

With the question about what Alan Bean ruined by pointing at the sun, I fully expected a BMS and was surprised when AT accepted "camera." To be more specific, it was actually a video camera. They're very different; generally, pointing a film camera of that era at the sun wouldn't "wreck" the camera....

I loved the pronunciation of Pleiades. But then I say Illinoizzz, and ConneCt-icut, and Hawa-ya for those three states and flip-flop on Missourie-Missourah depending on usage. Is there some part of the country that pronounces those states like that?? And I don't even know what that third state is s...

Re: Friday, May 11, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I'm really surprised "ditto" was a TS. These teachers might be too old to have used them in their careers, but Jake and Steve are certainly old enough to have used plenty of them as students. Lots of oldsters have memories of "take one, pass them back" followed by 25 fifth-graders inhaling the alco...

Got Fargo, but after time expired. Knew it was Nora Ephron, but simply couldn't pull her name out of the vortex. Dented my forehead when Alex gave her name.

Gold Rush, cloture, Cuckoo's Nest were all pretty instant.

Is it just me or have the FJs this tournament been extra tough? I'm 1-for-4, so yeah. I thought of Fannie Flagg, but I know she's still alive. The only other funny author I could even come up with was Erma Bombeck. Wouldn't have gotten the right response if you gave me a year. One of the first thin...

I always underestimate the number of words that can be formed from the letters in another. Y'all surprised me with this one. No word was used more than twice. 3. Animated. Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film to be nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award. But that has nothing to do...

The only 90s London landmarks I could think of were Vauxhall Cross and the London Eye, and the former at least has a roof. Judges: Second sight instead of sixth sense? I can't remember the exact phrasing of the clue, but Mirriam-Webster online (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/second%20si...

On the western edge of Fort Collins is a street named "Overland Trail." Yep, the pavement runs along the route the stagecoach took to Laramie, merging with US 287 on the north side of town for the trip to the Wyoming border. There's even a historic site at an old stagecoach rest stop called Virgini...

Re: Monday, May 7, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I went for the transportation angle rather than the movie angle and came up with the stagecoach and then Wells Fargo maybe ten seconds in or so. I figured the Oscar bit would make this one easier, but early returns here aren't indicating that. Looks like I got a tough one! Paralleled my thought pro...

This is teachers' tournament week and I know some people aren't paying attention to the TV game so that gives you all the more reason to participate in the TD this week. That, plus the fact that this one could shape up to be a very interesting reveal. Lots of good answers available and plenty of op...
