Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

Well the Sports ML final was super tough, as I'd feared...I'm a little surprised they included no questions about the nhl, men's or womens world cup, winter or summer Olympics. I only got 2, the Bonilla lay up and Waltrip. I had all 3 cities correct for final four, but new stadium in Indy not the ol...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

I ended up 5th in LGBT Group 142, which I thought was pretty good for me. I only knew 3.5 in the final (culture club, Semenya, Von Stueben, and Daley but not his husband). By virtue of just submitting today, I can't be caught and I've won Group 166 of 2000 Sports and look forward to the championship...

Re: Alpaca Farm quizzes

Crap, if I'd moneyed Pulisic instead of my bad Shalene Flanagan guess I'd have won the athletes in street clothes. The only one I didn't recognize was the cricket player. I guessed right on Mayfield and Sale, and wrong on Wozniaki. I knew I recognized her but could not pin it down. you beat me, dud...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

I'm a sports guy, easily my best category, but these questions have been difficult and no real hints in the clue writing. A good example was the NASCAR question yesterday where they gave the drivers states, which would lead one to believe the track is named for a state. I knew it was Darlington, bu...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

I lucked into a 1(1)-0(1) win yesterday by lucking out on the 1 in 4 guess with the Australian Open. I am probably not the best person to judge but many of the questions in this sports ML strike me as being a tad too much on the trivial side. Maybe not so bad if it was a 1DS just for that sport, bu...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

I'm either in a very difficult bracket for the LGBT ML or have just had terrible luck. Haven't won a single match, 2 ties, really haven't done TOO poorly on the questions themselves. I've been lucky so far in this one, I'm 3-1-1 with only 14 TCA and 14 CAA...I've done better than I thought, althoug...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

Brutal day yesterday in 2000 Sports...I ended up with 0 correct, lost the Koin flip on Bruins/Red Wings. No chance on the CFL and halftime show questions. I could picture both Meb and Ochoa in my head but could not pull their names. My group collectively went 14/72 (0.194) with no forfeits....

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

I blew it on Day 2 by missing South Bend. I had just read up on Pete the day before and got the wrong 2 word Indiana city stuck in my head going with Fort Wayne. Turned a win into a tie...

Re: Alpaca Farm quizzes

will they be? i got more than 50 percent...so if i was able to manage that, i will say the majority will have decent scores and your prediction of low scores won't happen but then again...if you mean low due in regards to moneyed questions since there will be a lot of right answers, then i guess th...

Re: Alpaca Farm quizzes

Just looking at the results....my answer of marbles of Elgin is no good? Ouch! Oh man, I agonized over that call. I went with the 3 variants from the British Museum website: 1.1 The terms most frequently used are Elgin Marbles, Parthenon marbles, and the British Museum’s preferred term, Parthenon s...

Re: Alpaca Farm quizzes

Drop what you're doing and go play Stupid Answers ! Well, that was interesting to grade. 30/114 players missed the first question: James VI of Scotland became the first Stuart monarch to rule England and Ireland when he took the throne in 1603 under what name? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ My answer of James VI was to...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

I salute those doing well in Visual Art...my Art % is at .321 which is not too far below league avg of .382. However, I decided not to play based on knowing none of the sample questions. I have followed along though, and man I would've been hard pressed to average 1 correct per day. Most of the answ...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Central), April 10, 2019

Missed 12 of the first 25, but ended strong but still only finished with 34. Felt much harder to me than the last few tests. Way too much art/poetry/literature for me and no sports/pop culture/film. I got super frustrated not coming up with Austen and Buccaneer but many of my misses were things I've...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

The True Crime ML is significantly more difficult already. My first opponent and I tied with 3(1). I still don't know who that picture is of even after seeing the answer. Its the woman from Theranos, although I could not pull her name. I won 3(2) - 0(1) getting Pappy Van Winkle and Lufthansa. I did...
