Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

My Koin is working overtime this season. Just yesterday I had Washington/Carver and WJRL/WLRJ. I knew Washington was first and Roosevelt third but wasn't sure about the other 2. If I got both, I win. Mt Rushmore only, I tie. Missed both and lost. I wonder if I had answered Washington Carver if it wo...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

Did trout have the highest get rate? Surely the highest in a long time. I read that one, and went, "Seriously, Thorsten?" This is only my 8th season but its the highest I can remember...I wonder what the get rate would've been if he left off rainbow. My Koin came up with Fuller instead of Wright co...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

Full or pull. Thiiis close. No chance for me on crap sitcoms aimed at kids. Don't tell anybody. Full or pull for me as well... Never heard the term before but I also haven't had an econ class since freshman year of HS. My opponent who had previously got most of the econ terms questions wrong got it...

I was one of the 36% who confidently answered The Lion King for highest-grossing G-rated movie. Now I really want to know what that movie did to earn a PG.
My guess is violence... I was not sure if TS4 was PG but luckily I did not remember Lion King came out as well this summer.

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

Got quilt on a WECIB but I thought he was looking for 2 different words until I reread the question for the 5th time. Surprised at the low get for Card Sharks, given this summer’s reboot with Joel McHale I used to watch the old Card Sharks and even watched the reboot within the last 2 weeks and sti...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

You know how there's that question every once in a while where you see the results and wonder "how the heck does everyone other than me know this?" That was the UBI question for me on Friday. Even after seeing the answer it wasn't something that rang a bell for me. Weird. I didn't know it either, b...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

really hope that answering only blue ridge yesterday without the parkway isn't going to cost me a shot at the championship....took a win to a tie and instead of being tied for second going into Day 11 I am a point behind. Its a little frustrating that we have 2 serial forfeiters in our group who bo...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I don't think there are going to be minileagues that line up better with my wheelhouse than "science through the ages". I'm proud of how well I did, but I'm truly amazed at the winners of the championship: there were 12 esoteric facts from a range of science disciplines and eras that the smiths ask...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

The Science ML was....humbling. I went into it with no real expectations, and a 0.400 Science career. On MD1, I got 4 right and thought, ok this won't be too bad. Wow, I was wrong. I ended up only getting 9 correct over the last 10 days, with only a couple misses that I had a chance at. Seemed like ...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

Lets see...late 1500's, naval fleet, invading England. Hmm...Spain is way too obvious so who else could've paired up with an Italian? How about Germany? Makes no sense but it can't be Spain...so I tied 6(4)- 6(5). In other news, I am getting crushed in the science ML, realizing I know far too little...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I know its random selection, but my ML season has been front-loaded with A opponents...which results in an 0-2-1 record in science (with 14 TCA out of 18) and a 7(5)-9(6) loss on day 1 of upsets. Combined, that is 20/24 for my opponents. Ouch. BTW, ambush is french? Really? I didn't have a guess rea...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I yearn for the days when LL81 was "easy" and my Qpct was over .600. Now, after my first 0(0) since my rookie season in LL74, I will end this season with my lowest TCA except my rookie season no matter what happens on MD25... I should've had James Dean yesterday but that's probably it, except if I h...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I have never heard of Ritter Sport before in my life. I am absolutely flabbergasted that 56% of the league and 80% of my rundle got that one. I spent about 20 minutes trying to figure out a sport where "squared" would make sense...I also can't believe the 56% get rate, but everyone I follow got it ...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

You could've told me that cane was italian for dog (which I didn't know, but in hindsight might've got there) and I still wouldn't gotten it, I took french! Perro is nowhere near chien. Didn't matter as I got Paraguay, hurling, Juliet/Romeo, and gopher for a 5(4)-1(2) win. I'm in sixth with 5 days t...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

Not sure what happened to the "easy" LL81, but I am down to my lowest correct percentage since my rookie season. But, I am getting by with a 2(2) -0(0) win for my 3rd in a row. Blues Clues I've seen with the kids, and Navajo was pretty much a WECIB for me. The others? I suppose with different clue w...

Hence my 0.150 career lit percentage in LL...Also didn't really matter as I got at least one other answer incorrect.

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

First ever Buckner win yesterday 3(1)-2(3)...so many Koin flips... Luxembourg/Switzerland (although I thought only Switz had Cantons as noted above). Buffalo/Cleveland...turns out Buffalo is only 350 miles from NY, but I have been there several times and knew it was a major shipping center around 18...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

Midseason results are out. I accomplished my goal: moneyed the right 5 of 7 that I knew I got right. (Moneying Polish would have resulted in a higher score, but I had about 2% confidence on that one to begin with.) I was pretty sure it was Polish (I have a friend in Buffalo who mentioned Dyngus Day...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I went with dispersion and return for radar...one of those things I thought I should know but upon seeing the answer I had not come across the definition before. Pizza hut was our pizza chain of choice so that was a layup, and the Pantera question was pretty much word for word from the Rock N Roll M...
