Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I know its random selection, but my ML season has been front-loaded with A opponents...which results in an 0-2-1 record in science (with 14 TCA out of 18) and a 7(5)-9(6) loss on day 1 of upsets. Combined, that is 20/24 for my opponents. Ouch. BTW, ambush is french? Really? I didn't have a guess rea...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I yearn for the days when LL81 was "easy" and my Qpct was over .600. Now, after my first 0(0) since my rookie season in LL74, I will end this season with my lowest TCA except my rookie season no matter what happens on MD25... I should've had James Dean yesterday but that's probably it, except if I h...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I have never heard of Ritter Sport before in my life. I am absolutely flabbergasted that 56% of the league and 80% of my rundle got that one. I spent about 20 minutes trying to figure out a sport where "squared" would make sense...I also can't believe the 56% get rate, but everyone I follow got it ...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

You could've told me that cane was italian for dog (which I didn't know, but in hindsight might've got there) and I still wouldn't gotten it, I took french! Perro is nowhere near chien. Didn't matter as I got Paraguay, hurling, Juliet/Romeo, and gopher for a 5(4)-1(2) win. I'm in sixth with 5 days t...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

Not sure what happened to the "easy" LL81, but I am down to my lowest correct percentage since my rookie season. But, I am getting by with a 2(2) -0(0) win for my 3rd in a row. Blues Clues I've seen with the kids, and Navajo was pretty much a WECIB for me. The others? I suppose with different clue w...

Re: TD 423 - Mini-TD #7 - Q1 Revealed

Hence my 0.150 career lit percentage in LL...Also didn't really matter as I got at least one other answer incorrect.

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

First ever Buckner win yesterday 3(1)-2(3)...so many Koin flips... Luxembourg/Switzerland (although I thought only Switz had Cantons as noted above). Buffalo/Cleveland...turns out Buffalo is only 350 miles from NY, but I have been there several times and knew it was a major shipping center around 18...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

Midseason results are out. I accomplished my goal: moneyed the right 5 of 7 that I knew I got right. (Moneying Polish would have resulted in a higher score, but I had about 2% confidence on that one to begin with.) I was pretty sure it was Polish (I have a friend in Buffalo who mentioned Dyngus Day...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I went with dispersion and return for radar...one of those things I thought I should know but upon seeing the answer I had not come across the definition before. Pizza hut was our pizza chain of choice so that was a layup, and the Pantera question was pretty much word for word from the Rock N Roll M...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

Tough set for me, getting only Morehouse. Lost 1(1) - 3(2), although I turned a win into that loss by not thinking through the National Lampoon one. I knew it was Vacation and ended up going with Playboy and instead of thinking of the full movie title. Figured it wouldn't cost me as film is my best ...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

Frustrating "almost got there" on the actor question. I couldn't recognize any of those roles, but from "certainly not the most famous" I figured out it had to be an actor with some stand-out signature role(s). Based on that, I narrowed it down to Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. How to decide? Whic...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

lost 5(3) - 6(4) after my opponent (who had missed all previous computer related Q's) got checksum... Kind of a weird day defense-wise on both sides as my best categories on the day are film and tv, and I missed both of those. My worst categories from the day are science (missed), food (got, I lived...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I got crushed yesterday 1(1)-9(5). Upon opening the Q's, the only one I had any clue on was Steve Miller and there was no way I was missing that one as I listened the the greatest hits tape about 400 times in high school. Coriolis was one of those things I knew I should know but I was never getting ...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I've heard of The 400 Blows, and of Trauffant, but was never getting that. I also read the "non-sensical title" to mean the title itself makes no sense like Lion Doorknob or something like that. I assume that there was no reference in the actual movie to 400 Blows and that is what made it non-sensic...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I LOLed when I saw the MCWA for the days of the week question: "The Avengers." I bet there were a lot of face palms on the reveal yesterday! :) I was one of those with Avengers....I need to brush up on my norse mythology. All I knew for sure was Thor and Odin and the only "group" I could think of w...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I spent about 20 minutes thinking "Is the song called Swing Low? Sweet Chariot? Swing Low Sweet Chariot?" I guess it didn't matter as I answered only Swing Low, and someone on the LL message board answered only Sweet Chariot and we were both marked correct. For some reason, my 15% Lit get-rate meant...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

Well the Sports ML final was super tough, as I'd feared...I'm a little surprised they included no questions about the nhl, men's or womens world cup, winter or summer Olympics. I only got 2, the Bonilla lay up and Waltrip. I had all 3 cities correct for final four, but new stadium in Indy not the ol...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

I ended up 5th in LGBT Group 142, which I thought was pretty good for me. I only knew 3.5 in the final (culture club, Semenya, Von Stueben, and Daley but not his husband). By virtue of just submitting today, I can't be caught and I've won Group 166 of 2000 Sports and look forward to the championship...

Re: Alpaca Farm quizzes

Crap, if I'd moneyed Pulisic instead of my bad Shalene Flanagan guess I'd have won the athletes in street clothes. The only one I didn't recognize was the cricket player. I guessed right on Mayfield and Sale, and wrong on Wozniaki. I knew I recognized her but could not pin it down. you beat me, dud...
