Re: Audition rules clarification
If I was in a couple of months, I would take the test anyway as the audition date would be outside the window of the 18 months. Then when and if invited, I would alert them to the situation and ask if I am eligible for the audition. This way it does no harm to anyone eligible, while giving myself e...

Re: Football pre-emptions
In football season (ALL football season), The CBS affiliate in Boston pre-empts Jeopardy! every Friday. Not because they show sports, but because they show a local program ("Patriots All Access") ABOUT sports. They shove Jeopardy (and Wheel, but who cares?) to 2 AM or some such.

Re: TD 428 - Short Quiz on Random Trivia - Final Scores
I credit G&S with my singleton on the Underground question. There's a lytic in the "nightmare song" from IOLANTHE: "They're a ravenous horde and they all came on board at Sloane Square and South Kensington stations" OMG--are you in costume for that show in your profile pic?!...

Re: TD 428 - Short Quiz on Random Trivia - Final Scores
Considering I'm usually found in the bottom half, was a very good showing for me. Thanks, Peachbox! I credit G&S with my singleton on the Underground question. There's a lytic in the "nightmare song" from IOLANTHE: "They're a ravenous horde and they all came on board at Sloane Squ...

I also think you are ineligible if you are running for public office.

Re: Thursday, July 25, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Given the category, I would have bet $0 on FJ. Without any hope at all of knowing the answer, I guessed "Hotel California" simply to avoid the ignominy of saying nothing.
Surprise!

My first thought for FJ was Shel Silverstein, but he didn't seem the least bit Picasso-like. I switched to Sendak in plenty of time.

For FJ, I said Sylvia Plath, but I wasn't at all sure. I kept telling myself "There's another one I can never remember who wrote a story I can never remember." I was right!

Re: FJs for the 7/8/19 week
Having read "Angels and Demons," I never felt the need to read "The Da Vinci Code." They are, for all practical purposes, the same book.(Or so I understand.)

I said Achilles because Greek + hero. The TOM of cliffs meant nothing to me. Even if spotted Thermopylae, I doubt I would have gotten Leonides.

I guessed jury-rigged, but I wasn't at all sure. I didn't even remember jerry-rigged until Alex mentioned it would have been accepted.
For what it's worth, jerry-rigged is getting flagged as being misspelled. Jury-rigged is not.

Wrong answers – 9 points ROME immaf This surprised me. I checked, and there *is* a Rome, Ohio. I suppose one could argue that Romano cheese is not *particularly* associated with Rome (Roma), but am I wrong? It's a village, the question asked for city. That's the only thing I can see precluding it. ...

My brain was irretrievably stuck on Oceania, even though the number of letters was wrong. (Upon sober consideration, Oceania also includes Australia, so the amount of land was wrong, too.)
Stupid brain.

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour
Got the invite for Columbus the other day, but waited to share just because I wanted to confirm there wouldn't be an eligibility snafu because of WWTBAM. Guess I should be extra glad I aired during Week 1 last season! Will the 5th time be the charm? 5??????? what was your score on this test? I'm ho...

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour
And as for the Austin pub quiz audition in NYC, it did seem difficult to imagine TPTB skipping NYC for an entire year of auditions. I'm pretty sure that for the past several years, they have alternated Boston and NYC as an audition city. I used to be out of sync with that schedule, and there were s...

Me during the think music: Ummm? Maybe Arlo Guthrie? Probably not. There was the other Guthrie, though -- what was his name? Nope, it's not coming. But Arlo was the dad, right? He was older? And therefore more likely to be known to Steinbeck? Oh what the heck, I'm probably way off base anyway. I''ll...
