Re: Friday, January 10, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Regarding the Church of the Nativity clue weirdness: In a private forum, several people who were in the studio at the time have related that TPTB stopped tape and substituted a different clue, which Jack got. The game went on from there. That at least explains why, after the break, Katie's score was...

I feel unique. Looks like I'm the first to post
Only 1,500 feet lower in elevation, the name of a genuine ore ... only, according to Wikipedia, that particular ore was not mined there. Shrug. Now I have Leadville's distinction firmly in my headcanon.

Re: Previous J! contestants: Did you track money in real time?
I admit I glanced up to the contestant-view scoreboard now and then in between natural pauses in the game, but didn't keep constant track. The general sense of which contestant had momentum in the game seemed just as reliable an indicator of where I stood at a given moment.

Re: Wednesday, March 20, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I came up with Stuart for FJ, but isn't this a strange way to phrase a clue? "Family name of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s brother Henry" Um, wasn't that Bonnie Prince Charlie's family name, too? Is there some reason they worded the clue this way? Cause "Bonnie Prince Charlie's family name" makes it too ...

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]
One more thing to add about Claudia just to make sure her trivia credentials are known: It takes more than two hands to count all of the games of J! she has played. I have not been on FB since early this morning to get more clues. Who was her +1? Bud had mentioned a bunch of J! alums he saw in the ...

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]
Ouch. That one hurt. Like watching a car crash in slow motion. So sorry to see that, Bud. FWIW, I would have assigned a 70% likelihood to the brain as well. On the football field question, I was surprised the 50/50 took away 48,000. They usually leave you with the two likeliest, but I guess they we...

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]
Hi there and thanks a million to Mark! and gratitude to all for the kind words. Tom was a great and loyal companion during the REALLY tedious process leading to the taping, in addition to helping eliminate the "knee" option. When I say tedious I mean we sat in the green room (not nearly as homey as ...

   :( :( :( Thursday I knew right away which book the FJ! clue primarily referred to, and still couldn't pull the author's name out of my skull in time. Richard Rodgers and Woody Guthrie were equally helpful Friday, so I couldn't really click either box.

Re: Football Category Poll (2/1/18 SPOILERS)
     If you watch Army, Navy or Air Force play, they run a different type of option, a more traditional flexbone, triple option look. This is in part because their players are at a size disadvantage most of the time compared to the other civilian schools ...

Re: Wednesday FJ (and one Thursday) extended poll
Not only am I familiar from childhood with Ore-Ida and the sublimity of the Tater Tot, I support the doctrine of the only acceptable dipping sauce: 55% Heinz ketchup, 45% mayonnaise (a soupçon of pickle juice is optional). Though an oversimplification, it's fair to say that Idaho's richest man of th...

Re: Millionaire 2017-18 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]
Fellow frustrated aspirants like myself will be gratified to know WWTBAM has been renewed for the 2018-2019 season. The linked article seems to assume that taping will continue to be in Las Vegas. Which is good for me, because from Chicago, air fares are just as good to LAS as to just about anywhere...

Re: J! in the Media
This is hardly going to overshadow today's big news but it should be shared. Chicago Public Radio tonight aired an interview with Robert Siegel, outgoing co-host of All Things Considered , and he was asked about being a category in Jeopardy! (Dec. 12 show). This is the best I can recall his response...

Re: Friday, December 29, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]
I would have answered "Who are the Mormons" and I'll count it as correct. A few months ago somebody answered "Moonies" instead of Unification Church and that was marked wrong because the unofficial slang term was counted as offensive. From the Wikipedia article about the word Mormon, "The term "Mor...

Re: FJs for the 12/4/17 week

I am marking myself incorrect for Friday's FJ! because her name is for some reason troublesome for me. I cannot reliably remember whether it's Hargitay or Hartigay, and that night I would have chosen the wrong one.

Excluding College Championships, Teen Tournaments and Kids and Celebrity weeks, I have never before had a run longer than 8 or 9. Judging by the past few polls...
