Re: What Would You Ask Alex?

About his 1983 unsold pilot, Malcolm . Given the cruddiness of the pilot, the response should be epic. I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but in my less-mature days (about 15 years ago), I actually asked Alex about Malcolm at a taping. He seemed to have no recollection of it whatsoever. That man...

Re: Monday, November 18, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I am sometimes confused by details of the Garfield and McKinley assassinations, but I was pretty sure that DC was not "the City of Light". Living outside of Buffalo, half the city probably doesn't even know where the Pan-American was if they weren't already on the right streets. The site of the pla...

Re: The Tournament of Champions in the Art Fleming era of Jeopardy!

The article says she qualified in October 1971 for the 1971 ToC that taped and aired in November 1971, but, in fact, she didn't appear until the 1972 ToC, which taped and aired in November 1972. I don't know when or how our culture evolved to call women by their husband's names but man am I glad we...

Re: The Tournament of Champions in the Art Fleming era of Jeopardy!

New article found on Jane Gschwend. It doesn't add much that you didn't already have, but it notes the 2000th show for charity and the winner would get a 1000-book library. Did note though that she was the all-time record holder in winnings in April 1969. The 2000th Show is now on YouTube as well as...

Re: Thursday, June 6, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Checking "I matched Emma" in the weekly poll. Too much Arlo and Janis, I suppose. And to Roadgeek Adam, naturally the James fans are going to root against Emma. They wanted him to go all the way. It happens. People lose eventually on this show all the time. I think the post above looked incredibly ...

Salomé Gonstad: 16400+16400=32800
YESSSS!!!!!! The giant killer loses.
You must be the only person who wanted to see Emma lose. She downed a historic player....I don't get why you want her to lose.

Average is up to $76,601. Needs to put up a $90K drop tomorrow, which being said casually is still very weird, to put the Roger Craig record.

Re: Thursday, April 18, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I've only been able to watch 2 games of his run, much to my chagrin. But what blows my mind is that after 11 games, his average score is close to the previous single game record. Where would his average fall on the one-day winnings rankings (taking his scores out)? 3rd? Unbelievable. $70,147. Take ...

Re: Wednesday, April 17, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

For comparisons, at the end of game 10, Ken only had $341,158 (and won $50,000 that game). James is at $697,787. Not only are we at 2.045x the amount, this is insane. Could you imagine if there had been a wager bump? Right now James is on pace for what a million dollars by the end of the Wednesday. ...

Re: The Tournament of Champions in the Art Fleming era of Jeopardy!

No problem.

I spent the better part of two hours doing research in every database I access. I found lots of various articles, but I could never get a few things such as the winner you're still looking for in 1967.

I have several articles that notes where players are from as well.

I can solve something. In the 1970 tournament, we had a tie. Also, M. McNeil is Mary McNeil of Lansdale, Pennsylvania.

For the 1973 TOC, a trip to Greece is offered.

Re: Alex Trebek Announces Diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer

It takes an incredible amount of courage to stand in front of a camera and tell the world that you have been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease. It takes a certain personality to be able to do that and then make a joke that will make everyone watching chuckle through their tears. Alex Trebek,...
