So what did I miss in that empress clue that pointed to Japan?

Is there any good reason why Jeopardy hasn't forced the players to select from top to bottom instead of wherever they want?
That's a lousy question.
Apologies. I'm new! I'm happy to learn from the experts.
My remark was purely a joke. Welcome to the board.

For FJ Henry was a gimme with the famous Henry VIII, and then Edward and George were from the 20th century - one needed to start with the most recent kings after getting the gimme.

We've learned that it is most unlikely that he will ever be a contestant on American Idol or The Voice.

Re: Tuesday, April 16, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

No one seems to know how he does it. I mean, we all "get" that it's a combination of insane buzzer skills, astonishing knowledge base, and ice-in-the-veins wagering bravado. But having said that, I don't think anyone "gets' how all of that can co-exist inside one player and in none of the thousands...

Re: Tuesday, April 16, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

As I said the other day, if you are an opponent, you want him to hit the DD right away so you at least take away the possibility of $20K after the J! round. Part of his strategy in what I have called the Holzhauer Horizontal is that he goes to the highest values clues first and the DD is less likel...

Re: Tuesday, April 16, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

New vocabulary term: the Holzhauer Horizontal is picking the highest valued clues across the board first to build up a large cash total before landing on a DD and then going all in in the J! round or very large in the DJ! round.

If it is determined that Holzhauer did indeed create the site his status for the TOC will come into serious doubt. I think this is very doubtful. James is going to be a popular champ who may be one of the greatest players ever. It's going to take something a whole lot more egregious than that to ke...

"My facebook page is the only web site about me that I made" is the J! -world equivalent of the president saying "the Mueller Report completely exonerates me". never heard of her before The two great underappreciated backing bassists of the '60s are Carol Kaye and James Jamerson. Kaye did play on a lot of hits but I'd argue that the late Joe Osborn was a greater figure. Kaye has claimed that she played on a lot of the great Motown singles and not Jamerson...

Re: Monday, April 8, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Regarding the Carol Kaye category: Kaye did play bass on a large number of 1960s pop hits, but she is also notorious for claiming credit for songs that she did not perform on. However she has never claimed to have been the bass player on Good Vibrations. I think the clue writers got lazy and assumed...

Re: Sony Reportedly Searching For Alex's Replacement

Why are people saying a comedian wouldn't work for a host? I will propose that at least some of Trebek's "gravitas" has been earned from how earnest he is, to the point sometimes of being po-faced. A comedian would have to work extra hard not to let quips quell the mo' (to use Maggie Speak's famous...
