Re: "A Big Statistic" for $400 poll (10/14/19 spoiler)

would crab fishing have been accepted? or too specific? I couldn't organize an attack on this one in real time. I don't like the "most dangerous" descriptor. When it comes to homicide deaths, I think convenience store clerk was far more dangerous than law enforcement for several years. I'm sure if ...

Re: Friday, October 11, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

When I think "controversial play", especially in the context of formal awards, I think of Waiting for Godot. But there are the slight issues of Beckett not being American and of the play being too early for the clues.

Re: Thursday, October 10, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Muzzle has to be one of the most unlikely triple stumpers in recent memory. Not quite as bad as "Sydney" the day before. To be fair, the question asked what the oldest Australian city is, a fact which probably isn't common knowledge. I certainly didn't know that. I still guessed Sydney given that i...

English History? Yeah, no hope from me whatsoever. NHO the final response.
In your defense, I think this particular one is relatively obscure as far as FJ answers go. Not obscure enough that it shouldn't be fair game, but not one I would certainly expect the majority of viewers to pull.

At the risk of getting laughed off the board...

For some reason, I thought Rod Stewart was American, and had some sort of connection to South Africa.

0/3 this week.

Re: Wednesday, October 9, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I'm not going to waste a poll request on it, but did most of you get The Member of the Wedding? I'd honestly never heard of it, but it has tons of Archive hits (albeit most back when the canon had a heavier focus on academic topics).

I have no idea what the President's Cup even is and wanted to drop it but needed the drop worse later. I figured Gary Player being from South Africa would make that answer a fairly safe bet.

Re: Thursday, October 3, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

A couple years ago, the show released several unused clues from a Twilight Zone category onto the website because it was too niche to accommodate their normal practice of recycling unused clues. So it is likely we will eventually see the rest of the category.

Re: Thursday, October 3, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I grew up in Kansas and I don't associate the term "Dust Bowl" with the region outside of the context of the historical event of the 1930s. So I considered it, and rejected it in favor of Great Plains. I immediately knew Northwest Territory would be reversed after thinking of the infamous "Yukon Ter...

If you consider a lock-tie under the old rules to be a runaway, then Chuck Forrest's first seven appearances were all runaways.
I would consider it to be one, yes.
