Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

I had to cancel my Savannah audition at the last minute because I lost my job and couldn't afford to go. It was one of the worst feelings of my life. Sorry about this. If you keep in touch with TPTB, maybe you can reschedule for another city before the next online test. Hope it works out! I emailed...

I usually do well with wordplay, but I did terribly on the pronoun category.

Re: Thursday, June 13, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I assume it was intentional they eliminated "bug" by including it in the clue, though its etymology is fairly well known (and was the subject of a $1,000,000 clue in WWTBAM's prime).

for the most part you just don't take notice of walk up music at home watching on tv...but give it a go with baby shark...very noticeable
I generally agree. There was one player awhile back who used Sweet Child of Mine; that was pretty obvious though.

Re: Tuesday, June 11, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Hats off to Dan for his DD3 wager, but might it have better for him to make it a true daily double? He would have had $25,200 vs. $20,000 and $5000. With the standard $14,800 bet, he would be well positioned in a TS against anything but an all-in bet from third (or if she left $200 or less). of cou...

That was the WTF moment of the year for me...watching that godawful video only replaces the 'what' with 'why'.
I have a 3 year old and a 4 year old. Unfortunately, I am very familiar with the reference.

No guess on FJ! I didn't see a single TOM in this anywhere. I don't see how Taj Mahal = teardrop, either. Anyone wanna explain how this was a triple get?
Rabindranath is a very obviously Indian name, and what other "timeless" landmarks are famously associated with India?

Tangent: What's the spiciest and/or shade-throwingest clue anyone can remember that did make it to air? A quick check tells me they never talked about Slick Willie except to refer to the "original" of that name, bank robber Willie Sutton. But Tricky Dick has been fair game since November 1997 (thre...

I put the over/under at 90% for today's Final. It doesn't get much more WECIB than that.

DESCRIPTIVE NAMES

This 9-letter word from Greek, normally a verb, is a fitting first name of the man who fathered Dennis Rodman and at least 25 other children.

Philander
The best I could guess in the moment was "Procreate."

Re: Your Screenname: What inspired it?

No veterinarian I ever worked for did this, either. They would just put the pet's name and in parenthesis have canine, feline, whatever. And what would happen if someone actually had Q as a middle initial? It's a miracle that John Quincy Adams lived 80 years despite being prescribed pet meds his en...

I was spoiled for both Monday's FJ and for the cigarette one at the same time, and I don't know for sure if I would have gotten either unhelped so I'm just counting myself wrong for both. Tuesday I went the wrong way and said Poland.

Re: Your Screenname: What inspired it?

The railway runs about half a mile from there, though not by the actual course. I never made that connection before, but there may be something to it. There certainly is a train theme in general though. This gorgeous piece of artwork (the wall is an engraving, the horse is a sculpture) is near the c...

It's the name of a golf course/street in Leawood, Kansas. I used to deliver mail in that neighborhood and loved the name.
