Re: Friday, December 29, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Thinking most everyone here if finding a DD in Canadian Postal Abbreviations would have gone TDD + wallet + 401k + bank loan. Probably, though I'd have some trepidation about the potential of the clue giving NT, and therefore my having to choose singular or plural under pressure. (It's plural.) I r...

Re: 2024 Tournament of Champions

On a podcast episode a few months ago, Sarah said that he would have that choice but speculated that he would probably play for charity because he's a great guy. I thought that was rather unfair because it's basically putting him in a situation where he's socially compelled to make that decision.

What are you talking about? This group filmed after the strike ended.

I totally blanked on both Sydney Carton and peristalsis, and I don't think I'd ever heard that Dada means hobby horse.
The hobby horse etymology is the only thing I do know about Dada.

+1 for Steinbeck right away. While pondering during the Think Music, at the last second I said, "But it could be Faulkner ... ". But I didn't give it to myself. Had there not been a Steinbeck FJ just the other day I would have said Steinbeck instantly and stopped thinking. (Of course if I...

Re: No unplayed clues so far

I also like the time factor playing a role in the game. Taking too long to call a clue or not going for higher valued clues with the time warning given can put your chances of winning in jeopardy. I feel the opposite. I don't like the idea that a player can bleed out the clock and disadvantage thei...

Other memorable contestants might include Dave Rapp, the pink mohawked multi-day winner, and Yoshie Hill, who was the reigning champion in Alex's final game.

Re: Inside Jeopardy podcast

I would more readily buy the notion that the tournaments save money upfront than that they increase ratings. (The fact that it's 5 Eastern Time and that the Reddit game thread for today's game has four posts suggests ratings are probably not higher than usual). Don't sleep on budget concerns; during...

With the strike being over, presumably some contestants who otherwise would not have participated may be willing to move forward.
