Re: RIP HQ Trivia

I never understood their business model. How did they pay for those prizes? They got $15 million startup funding from investors who saw its potential. If they had followed KISS (keep it simple stupid) and kept the 12 question format they would probably have lasted longer. At least through the weeke...

Re: RIP HQ Trivia

One of the first things I did Saturday morning was to collect the nearly $34 from my account. Now dealing with Paypal hell because I hadn't logged in for a few years and since then I've been divorced and changed address, phone number and banks.

I feel pretty good about that one! They gave a few pop culture/non traditional topic questions that fell in my general knowledge base. I can only think of 2 or 3 that I know I screwed up, though I'm sure it'll be higher when the whole thing is parsed. Good luck everyone! Ditto on everything includi...

Re: Help with a Jeopardy-themed marriage proposal

Since the "will" clue might be a bit ambiguous, as pointed out above, how about: In a GEICO commercial, a group of pigeons is urged to "fire at" someone with this first name. Even if she hasn't seen the commercial, she could easily figure out the correct response from the common expression "fire at...

That is an... interesting list of cities. I made a map.

Hmm, 1 is Tijuana, 13 is the Hamptons, 14 is in the sea between Florida and Cuba, is that right?

Re: DHKendall - did you just win $8333.33?

Weird thing is, right around question 14, I was thinking he was going to win again and I should check for his name on the winner list. Not that I would have won, but I made the stupid mistake of picking Z before reading the full question about the least common letter. (For those that didn't play, th...

Re: Monday, May 14, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Not an instaget for me, admittedly--haven't seen Gone with the Wind in forever--but still wasn't too hard for me to piece together. Surprised it was a triple stumper. Never seen or read it but it wasn't too difficult because Charleston is such a southern city. Triple stumper and a bad wager from Er...

Re: DHKendall - did you just win $8333.33?

Looks like our boy jeff6286 was one of the 45 winners of tonight's big prize. Congrats! Thanks! After lots of near misses I finally managed to take down a (by non-Kendall standards) big one. They had a $100k Nike game a while back that had just 4 winners, and I was within one miss on q13 of making ...

Please excuse my mistake. My audition is on May 31 - not May 30.
Apparently mine is May 32nd.

I want to see it at some point; I periodically search the digital TV listings to see if it's on. So far I've only ever seen it available on PPV.
if you have a smart TV, you might be able to stream it off of Youtube or something similar.

Re: Sad Legal News About a Former Champion

Here is my suspicion: Jass and the unnamed "friend" to whom she showed the results Jass obtained by logging in to the accounts of the President (and others) at Adrian College may both have been up for promotion to Full Professor. This is silly, baseless speculation. Unless you're personally involve...

I'm 32 and have never seen it, though I don't watch a lot of movies because I have a really short attention span. Interestingly, a few years back, someone on another message board I read mentioned this article by Umberto Eco that discusses the film's popularity: http://umbertoecoreaders.blogspot.co...

Re: 5/3/18 FJ Poll [SPOILER!]

Can't really answer the 2nd part given the choices... I have definitely seen parts of it (didn't like and will never watch the whole thing) and I'm in the oldest age group. So, I can't truthfully say "I've NEVER seen it and in the oldest age group", or "I've seen it and am in the oldest age group"....
