Re: Reretaken Down

Honorable mentions: the other three Led Zeppelin members will have survived John Bonham by 40 years this September, and Richard Carpenter will have survived Karen by 37 next month (although duos somehow feel against the spirit of this question). The rest of the Rolling Stones (except non-official m...

Re: Wednesday, January 22, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILE

For the make like a tree pun I have gone back and forth on it for the archive as I hear "leave" while the CC has "leaf" and I can hear that as well. Yes Biff Tannen would have another idea. My wife and I both heard “leaf” and were waiting for a reversal, which I believe would have put him in second...

cheezguyty: If you don't mind more fun how about today's DD clues being found in 26th+22nd+29th spots for 77 total and when was a higher sum for the DDs hiding so well. Thanks. 77 or higher is "a few times a season" common. The last time was 2019-07-09 (30+24+27=81). The record (dating back to Ken'...

Re: Reretaken Down

I hate that I can no longer program my own computer, and haven't been able to for at least 25 years. Maybe one of you can help me. I want to write a simple program on my Windows 7 PC Whatever it is you are doing, better do it fast. What, does my computer turn into a pumpkin at midnight on the first...

For the one clue, I spent so long trying to remember Lot's wife's name that I didn't remember her name wasn't known . Put me down for knowing Lot, knowing that Lot had a wife who looked back on Sodom and Gomorrah and turned into a pillar of salt...but blanking because I thought she had some k...

"Liquor" BMSes to volume?
Why not, and what else to do? It would be hard to justify deeming "liquor" wrong. Technically, a more helpful prompt would have been "be more general", but that would have given away too much.

Re: Reretaken Down

The Browns and Steelers must not like each other. That was ugly. Myles Garrett is going to be a hot topic tomorrow. That was like WWE unscripted. I wish the NFL would make a rule that every time a helmet-to-helmet hit takes a player out of the game, the malefactor has to leave the game and cannot r...

Since he hasn't weighed in yet, I guess I'll play the role of TPH for this game. I "knew" the famous run associated with the battle was a lot shorter, so a 150 mile run couldn't be pointing to THAT battle. So it must be something else. Ended up staring at FJ today. My thinking was similar. I...

Re: Thursday, September 26, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I'm surprised it took so long in the thread to get around to the wrong answer from New York. I went there almost immediately and couldn't shake it. Most frustrating to me is the fact that the whole "world something means not USA" was discussed earlier this week. And I let that slip away so quickly....

Sydney Opera House never occurred to me. I focused on “eight wonder,” which took me to the Astrodome, and I never moved even though 1973 seemed kind of late for that building. (Turns out it opened in 1965.)

I had no idea for FJ! - I associate Chagall with stained glass. And my knowledge of Fiddler was that it was inspired by the writings of Sholem Aleichem, so I didn't have any avenue to come up with the answer. from page one of the "Pavlov Revival" thread (https://jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=343)(r...

Re: Monday, September 23, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The Pavlov for Chagall for me is "Russian Jewish painter". What musical could be about Russian Jews? Fiddler is the most likely candidate. Same here. Too bad that nobody even guessed on the “sgt Pepper” clue. Given the precedent from a few years ago I wonder if they would have required the complete...

The Maltese Falcon hint was useless to me. Once you get past Humphrey Bogart, "Play it, Sam," and "Of all the gin joints ..." I've exhausted my knowledge of the film.
Your knowledge of the film is even less than you think it is... ;)

It made no difference, and is petty considering how things turned out, but Tabitha said negligence was the opposite of attentive , when the clue called for an adjective, and I was disappointed that no reversal ever came... But at least she got the perfectly simple FJ, which I whiffed, speaking of e...

I thought the 2 name category in DJ was poorly done. Alex, in his instructions and in providing the correct responses, gave two names, but the contestants kept doing portmanteaus. Obviously they would have accepted either, but this could have been explained better.

Loved the Goliathtown response.
