Re: TD 365 - clt013 (Q1-Q10 revealed)

I'm with 9021amyers on this one. Think you have to give them that. Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, originally Memphis Memorial Stadium The question was based on which team he had watched play in that venue. Was this stadium normally referred to as "Memorial Stadium?" Was the location in Baltimore? I...

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

Anyone else expect TPH to consider California Rolls "fancy?" We all know that "California Rolls" are what you feel in a mild earthquake. I actually do know what a California roll is. In part because the guy I've roomed with at both Anthrocon and Midwest Furfest kept saying he was going to buy...

Re: TD 362 - Mixed Bag - Final Scores

Yikes, if the only overlap is a single letter, I'm not sure I would have accepted this. 'I hear ya, and in the future I probably won't. But since the clue didn't disallow it, I figured judgement call goes to the player. Thanks, the question did say word or letter. Apparently i went for the lesser k...

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

I saw no way to shortcut 3x=5+y if X is 4. X is 4. Plug in 4 where X is. That makes that side 3 times 4. 3 multiplied by 4 is always 12. 12 = 5+Y. 5 plus what equals 12? Or 12-5 is what? Or your favorite how much to add to five to get to 12? So there's no simpler way than that huh? I mean, it's a c...

Re: TD 362 - Mixed Bag - Scores through Q8

How the hell did Candy Maldonaldo sheep? He wasn't even that good of a player to be well known. I'm guessing the rest of you thought the same way I did apparently.

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

To recap: That's not a question. And I already gave you the answer, No you didn't. He did, in an "Idiotest" sort of way. Yeah, and we all know how awful I am at Idiotest puzzles. Yes, I know. That's why I didn't simply say "Yes he did." Can I ask the audience? Sure, go ahead and ask US. This was whe...

Ask US - as in United States.
And what does that have to do with the name given?
The question was which country she was from.

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

So are we cheering on any boardiellamas to win their rundle or stave off relegation on this last match day? I don’t know if anyone would be inclined to cheer for me but after having spent so many seasons in D I was elated to go to C this season because I always felt I belong in C. However I’m curre...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

Welp, I'm headed to relegation, from D back to E. Funny thing is I got more questions right this season that I have in my previous 3 seasons, but also gave up more questions right, and played horrible horrible defense (including the time I outsmarted myself by assigning 0 to the World Cup question t...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

Is there a stat for 3 pointers given up? Because I think outside of A rundlers (who always get 6 questions right), I think I might be giving up the most of those.

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

21 days in, and I'm slated for relegation and have been for most of the season. I'm really good at giving up 3 pointers. Yesterday, it was the geography question to someone who was previously 10-32 on it. 9 people are within 4 points higher of me, so I need to win and get some people to lose and I'l...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

I think I outsmarted myself yesterday. The question was about which previous World Cup winner (men's) didn't make this year's finals. My opponent is BAD at games/sports, like 15% correct total. HOWEVER, his location: Rome, Italy. I put 0 for it, figuring even someone who hates sports would have hear...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

Not recalling your nom de Llam', I can't check if "scull" was accepted or not, but I'm guessing that it was, and that the commissioner didn't want to penalize people who figured out "scull," thought the question compelled a suffix, and chose the wrong one. Why do you say that? If it's the counterpa...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

I wrote "scull" and I don't know if it was accepted or not. I don't like to look at Friday's result when I sense it's bad until it's Monday and I have bigger problems. I considered Beverly Hillbillies but switched to the Flintstones, which really did feel like an inspiration. Also hadn't realized w...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

The only one I got right yesterday was Misty Copeland, and I only knew her from an episode of Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me (IIRC). My scores in theater and classical music were abysmal, so my opponent rightly assigned me 3 for that one, which led me to a win!
