35% for a MCWA is remarkably high, possibly the highest I've seen in my 16 seasons.
The Land Between the Lakes MCWA got 71%, but that was back in LL55.
Right! Before my time, but that's come up before on either the LL board or this one.... or maybe both.

Re: LL79: For the LLamas

I was one of the big group of dummies (35%) that thought "bailout" was a phrase... I was debating between bailout and TBTF. I decided that bailout wasn't a phrase, and that it probably had uses involving ejector seats before 1984. I rejected "bailout" as not a phrase and surely in use prior to 1984...

Re: The crisis in TDs

I've been playing and hosting TDs for almost as long as they've been a staple on this board. And being in charge of the TD queue and archive, I've paid close attention to each and every one, week in and week out, that is offered up. But I don't play them much anymore and I haven't hosted one in ages...

Re: LL79: For the LLamas

This morning's observation ... I was looking at the standings, and I'm one short of leading my rundle in 3-pointers. I thought that's kind of odd, since I have yet to have a six-pack this season. That's pretty lucky to have people assign me 3 points on questions that I got right. So I started wonde...

Re: LL79: For the LLamas

I've finally figured out how to win LL matches: Get q's in your good categories wrong and q's in the your bad categories correct. Case in point yesterday where I got sports and film wrong and lit/WH correct (as well as pneumatics) leading to a 6(3) - 3(3) win. For the fencing question I was thrown ...

Re: LL79: For the LLamas

I can't believe that Tippecanoe had a 71% get rate, but Booker Prize was only 58%. "Tippecanoe and Tyler Too" had to mean something. https://ic.pics.livejournal.com/kensmind/1278588/21811/21811_original.jpg In retrospect, I've heard of the Booker Prize, but no way was I going to pull that one out o...

Picked a guy with a Nobel, multiple honorary doctorates, and one Grammy - Al Gore. Luckily, my opponent rated that as 0, so we tied 9(5)-9(6).
Al Gore as well. Picked the only wrong option of my 3-sided Kosman Koin (Gore, Obama, Carter.)

Re: LearnedLeague 78 - Official Thread

Requoting to say that yesterday blew those days out of the water in terms of difficulty. Funny, I’ve really been struggling this season, but Monday was one of the days where I felt the beer was in reach, yet ended up with just 4 right because I thought Fort Knox was in TN Fort Knox is in KY, but Kn...

Some day I hope to see the Large Magellanic Cloud with the naked eye when far enough into the Southern Hemisphere. In the Northern Hemisphere, we can see the Andromeda Galaxy with the naked eye on a clear, moonless night. To think that it's over 2+ million light years away. I'm currently on an isla...

Anybody else snap-answer Looking Glass for the Brandy question? Yes, me. That one was so in my wheelhouse that it's embarrassing. It was an obvious defensive three-pointer, too. How many people are going to remember Looking Glass? Doh! Yup, although I assigned it a 2, thinking another question woul...

I was gone for a while, so I never got a chance to comment on the 25-4 game ...
Don't overlook that the Mets outscored the Nationals 3-0 in the 9th inning. The trend was most definitely positive!

Re: Reretaken Down

Just to bump this off of (almost ) page 3, I thought I'd lament about how horrible my Mets are this year. Jacob deGrom is probably 1B to Max Scherzer's 1A for the best pitcher in the NL right now. In last night's game against ATL, the Braves moved to 5-0 this year against the Mets when de Grom star...

Congrats to Vermonter and teapot on 2 well earned championship berths!

I am taking next season off because I will be traveling outside of the country, but happy offseason to everyone!
+1 (to all)!

Another bounce back up to A Prairie for me. (I'm apparently a glutton for humiliation.)
