Re: Thursday, January 19, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Congrats Schliemann! I first joined the Sony jboard in 2008, and Troy was there winning trivia quizzes and working hard to get on J! and win. 15 years later, 4 LLRC victories, countless other quiz accolades, and he finally got his chance... and it was really close. Way closer than I would have predi...

RIP TomKBaltimoreBoy

I haven't been around the jboard in over a year - I missed you all, but I pulled away from jeopardy/trivia for a year during covid... But I'm back with sad news. Trey Kelso - aka TomKBaltimoreBoy, a formidable trivia mind and original member of this board (and longtime member of the Sony boards whic...

Re: Reretaken Down

I always enjoy a good map. This one highlights all of the state borders in the US (and parts of Mexico and Canada) that have rivers as the boundary. riverbordersus_grwl_2020.jpg Weird (and incorrect, I think) that the st. Lawrence near me (Lake Ontario to South of Montreal) isn't highlighted. At fi...

Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020

8/10/5/5. A really good round 2 (except for the missing 'for' in 'For better or for worse') got me above the cut. My moneying was poor - missing at least one moneyed question each round.

Congrats to sometime-boardie Troy Meyer on another LL championship! 11 correct on both round 3 and 4 in this championship is just plain ridiculous.

Woohoo - made the cut in the championship to the final with 10 right in round 2! Congratulations to the several boardies who also did!. I missed question 5 and moneyed it: Most comic strip characters never age. Notable exceptions include those in Frank King's Gasoline Alley, Gary Trudeau's Doonesbur...

Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020

I could not be more thrilled to be in 136th place after the round one reveal. I came very close to maximizing the points I could get with the nine that I answered correctly. It's going to be a hard fall for me in round two. I would love to still be above the cut line but it's going to be iffy. Cong...

Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020

Name any one of the four solo albums released by the members of the rock band Kiss in 1978. Note, each title has two words, and a full title is required. I have a bit of an issue with this one; so many times when someone leaves a band for a side project, or new permanent project, it is known as the...

Oh yeah, there is that 3-named actress who is married to Christopher Guest, and I have a vague recollection of him being a lord or baron or something.

Confidently answers Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Sigh.

Unwritten rules in all sports should either be written down or removed. I'm thinking of things like the so-called "code of fighting" in hockey as well.

Looks like we have 8 (one-time) boardies in A Magnolia. Some don't frequent here anymore, but it still is fun to play against familiar names. The Jboardom3 private rundle is set. Sorry to Teapot37 who was the odd one out, and wasn't able to avenge his close loss to bomtr in LL84. PrussC is back in A...

Finally! The 1DS I've been waiting for (Babylon 5). :) Well, yay me. Co-champion of the B5 1DS. That was certainly my last, best hope to win one of them. :) Congrats! Winning any 1ds is a big deal! I came in 12th on a 1day for a subject I have taught at university for 15 years. You know that stuff!
