Re: Tuesday, May 22, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

FJ pure YEKIOYD IMO, otherwise it's "pick a random 19th c Russian author". Went with Tolstoy, and Pushkin would've been my third guess behind Chekov. This clue is the opposite of YEKIOYD IMHO[1]. I sure didn't know it, but I got it right by knowing approximate time periods. (Tolstoy and Chekhov bot...

There was a very subtle reference to Michelle McNamara in this episode https://news.avclub.com/todays-jeopardy-had-a-lovely-covert-tribute-to-michel-1826245652 https://twitter.com/pattonoswalt/status/999084577451786240 Instafinal, then once Tolstoy was revealed I suddenly realized I might have been ...

Not sure if this will last long enough to be clue worthy, but pocket it just in case. Elon Musk, a.k.a. Tesla CEO and real life Tony Stark, is dating singer c , nee Grimes (this is fair game), nee Claire Boucher (this not so much). https://news.avclub.com/grimes-gives-herself-a-nerdy-new-name-with-h...

Well, they ALMOST got all the Bible clues correct. The writers, I mean. David is not said to be the author of the book of Psalms. Rabbinic tradition says he assembled the book, including his own psalms as well as psalms from previous generations. I'm not aware of any tradition or scholarly argument...

Another West Point. In retrospect, it amuses me to think that Benedict Arnold could give to the British a place that hadn't yet existed. At least my first thought of Fort Dix I couldn't concretely rule out at the time. (No, I didn't know how old Fort Dix or its namesake was, though also amusin...

Well that's just awesome, Scarlett! Enjoy! I like your reference to Austin Rogers's trip idea. Does anyone know if he actually went on it? He has recently been tweeting about a road trip in an old red beater Honda. And he might be making a show out of beater cars https://jalopnik.com/jeopardy-champ...

Am I the only one who noticed that the $400 question in Round 2 for "21st Century Best Sellers" was wrong? The Da Vinci Code came BEFORE the two books "Angels & Demons" and "The Lost Symbol". There was no book between those two. The order is The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, The Lost Symbol, Infe...

Sweden, through it's official Twitter account, calls Swedish meatballs Turkish in origin. https://twitter.com/swedense/status/990223361648275456 https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/02/world/europe/swedish-meatballs-turkey.html Turks rejoiced. Some Swedes were dismayed. And the revelation set off some go...

Aren't all names made up, though?

Probably shouldn't pick your kids' names while playing Scrabble tho.

No guess on FJ! Even when he spotted the other 5, I had no idea that Arabic was the missing one. And I wouldn't remotely consider Arabic "cursive". And what do you think "cursive" means? The etymology of the word seems to come from a Latin word for "running". What does that have to do with Arabic? ...
