Re: Tuesday, September 22, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

TS Beta Preempted Jeopardy in the Houston Area Today. Helluva thing when we run out of letters in the Roman alphabet and have to start over using the Greek alphabet to keep count of the year's tropical storms. (said the guy who grew up on the Gulf Coast and went through a few of them). Dana seems l...

When I saw the clue I Pavloved "dome" to be done as fast as I was on stage in September aught five.
Yep. I dreaded the cat when I saw it, but like you, "dome" made it easy.
Also yep. "Dome" (even just reading it on this board" was the dead giveaway.

Re: Friday, September 18, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

NBC broke in just before FJ with news about RBG’s death. I found a copy of the show on YouTube and played it from there. A WAG with Tennyson left me with little hope. I also missed the last half of DJ due to the news flash. Most times that happens I'm annoyed b/c the "huge flash" is something that ...

Re: Wednesday, September 16, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I hope that players like Kelly are not the direction the producers want to retake the show. As TalkingAwauy posted, a little goes a long way.. :o Honestly, I'm willing to give the producers a lot of leeway. The contestant pool shrunk from about 365.8 million to about 19 million. (Okay, not everyone...

Barry like carry Berry like strawberry But everyone I have ever known of American origin has pronounced "strawberry" as rhyming with "straw-carry". Uh, no. Sorry. Berry and Barry are just two distinct names and two distinct pronunciations. Not that it mattered in determining the winner of this game...

Re: Monday, September 14, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Interesting how Alex said the champion would be back "in a few weeks"; not only will it be interesting to see if that time frame holds true, but how they go about doing that if it is. I'm assuming they'll have to being him in as co-champ. Not sure how else they could do it. I'd guess they'll do it ...

Re: Monday, September 14, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Franki guessed "thesis" which wasn't as good as their desired "topic" (which I got). But it doesn't seem exactly wrong either. 2. What happened to Zach Newkirk, who I thought was the returning champ from the last regular season game in June? He won 4 games and $85K and I certainly expected him to b...

Franki guessed "thesis" which wasn't as good as their desired "topic" (which I got). But it doesn't seem exactly wrong either. I had to miss the season opener (boo, hiss), so please answer me a couple of questions. 1. Was Franki negged for "thesis sentence?" All the years I was in h.s./college, "th...

Re: Monday, June 8, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The remind-alike game was easy today with Lindsay, as from moment one of her speaking (coupled with her appearance) it was Beth Behrs as Gemma Johnson on CBS's The Neighborhood . I had two thoughts upon seeing the challengers introduced: that Lindsay looks like the blonde version of Season 34 champ...

Alexander the Great = Macedonia is a match I'm pretty sure I've never had to make before.
I've always heard AtG's father referred to as Philip of Macedon, not Macedonia, so that's what I answered. Judges?

Macedonia is the name of the modern-day country, not that one.

That Final Jeopardy! was hard for a College Championship, in my opinion.
Really? "Big ditch"? 1914?
I'd say any Final Jeopardy! with at least two incorrect responses is hard.
That's one possible interpretation of this outcome.

Re: FJs for the 5/8/02 - 5/14/02 M$M 2nd week

I could only guess about the FJ with helium, Tom Hanks, and PMs. I knew the first two cold and guessed 3 PMs, so my answer was 7 instead of the correct 6. That prevented a perfect 5-for-5 FJ week in the tournament semifinals and finals. Drat.

Re: Monday, May 13, 2002 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I was so proud of myself on this FJ. I saw "5th element" and immediately made the connection: 5=quint (as in quintuplets). "Essence" came immediately after that and I had the correct answer written down almost before AT finished reading the clue. And to think this is a BIGs tournament (not "just" yo...

Re: Friday, May 10, 2002 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

For me easiest to hardest would be Oscar, element, PM while I understand how someone could have a different order. Yep. For me it's element, PM, and then Oscars. I knew the first two were 2, so I figured, "What the heck, let's make that one 2 also." For me element was elementary (Hydrogen=1, Helium...

Why did they feel the need to cut the announcement of the semi-finalists? I only got Right Stuff. Forgot about Terms. If they're going to cut anything, it's a fairly easy cut to make. I imagine even the official site lists the champ, so there's not a lot of mystery for the vault episodes. I did the...

This is even more out of date than Linear Gnome's joke (because A&P has been out of business since 2015).
Most of my humor is hopelessly out of date, as am I. Please bear with me.

My employer and job are classed as "essential", so Covid-19 has had little impact on my job except traffic on my commute is a lot less. Re: Poll on Boardies Covid-19 Impact

Pretty much everybody in the medical profession, along with county/state health officials, are unanimous in recommending the simple three-step recommendation (while we wait for a vaccine and/or effective treatment to come along) for limiting and eventually stopping the pandemic: Wash and sanitize yo...
