In command mode, you can run commands like copy a:\*.* c:\backup\*.* The command is "copy", the rest are arguments. I posit that the arguments are a necessary component of the command. Try typing in just "copy" and see what happens. Whether or not something else happens is irrelevant (and fine, if ...

Re: Thursday, March 13, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Do I get to be the smart-alec who says Paris & Brasilia, even though neither is on a peninsula? Oh, goody. I'm guessing you missed the word "border"? As pointed out, France and Brazil do indeed border! People don't know that French Guiana is as much a part of France as Hawaii and Alaska are parts o...

Re: NPR just reported Alex is retiring next year--did I miss something?

(Knowing my luck, I will get on while Trebek is host, only to win the last game Alex hosts, making me the only person forbidden to appear in both the Trebek era and the New Host era. :) ) I hardly see being forbidden from the Trebek era as particularly devastating, if you're playing in his *last ga...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), January 9, 2014

I think I got 41, and really should have been about 44 or 46 but I had some stupid misses (Antoinette for Josephine, Mitchell for Walker, blanked on Warhol for about 2 seconds too long) and some wrong guesses (Peter for Thomas, Goneril for Cordelia, Liszt for Chopin).

A couple of brain farts and a few I just plain didn't know, but I felt like I got at least 40.

Sad to hear the others were easier...I forgot about the Tuesday test until 5 minutes into it and wasn't free for the Wednesday one!

Re: Friday, September 27, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I never watched Ugly Betty . Was sitcom the best term for the clue to use? Just curious if dramedy or comedy-drama is more accurate since it was a 60-minute show. It was usually light-hearted, occasionally dramatic, never hilarious. At the Emmys its nominations were always filed under comedy. It wa...

One of the names used to refer to a red panda (I think in Chinese) translates to "fire-fox."
小熊猫 (small panda) and 红熊猫 (red panda) are the only ones I know of. The browser, though, is called 火狐, literally fire-fox.

Made it as far as the Beatles, very frustratingly couldn't quite remember the song (though I know it), but I knew that it wasn't Rubber Soul (Run for Your Life), Revolver (Tomorrow Never Knows), or the White Album (Good Night). I just don't listen to Sgt. Pepper that much. In retrospect it was the m...
