Re: TD 374 - Cherry Blossom Festival (Q7-Q8 revealed)

I was a little surprised that Maeda sheeped this one too - I was sure it would be Ichiro because he sort of spans two generations of fans. Keep in mind that Maeda was in the most recent World Series with the Dodgers, as was Yu Darvish. Both will have a bit more name recognition because of that, par...

Needed the rebound to distinguish rods and cones - I can never remember which does what.
How about COnes = COlor?
Thanks. I could make that work.

It is the right pairing, I trust. ;) I've already forgotten from my viewing only a few hours ago.

Re: Thursday, April 5, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Is everyone here actually writing their response down and making sure they've got it down before the time is up? I suspect not. Since my whole reason for getting involved here is to improve my play to make a decent shot at getting on the show, I am writing down my answers every time. I have stretch...

Re: 2018 Current Events Study Guide

Yeah, [Ohtani is] a pitcher and a DH and yesterday when he pitched they DH'ED FOR HIM! NL pitchers hit for themselves EVERY GAME THEY PITCH IN. This somehow offends me. I'm slowly coming to understand there are weird quirks in the AL DH rules. If Ohtani were to hit for himself as a pitcher, he coul...

The first to were pretty quick gets. The rest of the FJs were not going to happen.

Extra clues? Lit, lit, and the history of Eastern European geography? Not a chance for me.

Re: Thursday, April 5, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I'd hazard a guess that boardie hit rates on FJ would fall slightly when asked on a TV stage with bright, hot lights and the pressure of the moment. Dropping 10% wouldn't be a crazy guess as to the effect of being on stage.

Thanks for putting this together, clt013. And much respect to the no drop/no sheep gang. Indeed. I was in need of 4 or 5 sheep/drops this round, so opted not to enter. My hat's off to those who didn't need any at all. And even though I didn't enter, I'll add my thanks for putting this TD together.

I've heard DNCE several times, but never knew what the lyric was before "by the ocean." And I've probably heard Sister Mary Elephant a few times back in the day. The title sure sounds familiar. I wanted to place it with a couple of guys from the early SNL days (maybe Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd), b...

Of course there are infinite colors and several thousand named ones so how did this pass muster as a DD clue (I think, not sure)? edit - searching in reverse I learn that Newton named 7 colors, and I think the clue alluded to him. Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

Could TPH have gotten his second FJ right before Easter? This has to be about the easiest FJ I've seen in years. And I'm not just saying that because I worked as a contractor for the agency in question for 2 1/2 years. No idea what made this "the easiest in years". Any question you already know the...
