Re: Wednesday, January 4, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

Anyone else feel that today's board was a "budget control" board?

Re: On Both Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune?

It also helps that Wheel tends to recycle puzzles a great deal. (Protip: The Prize Puzzle is always some variant of "going to the beach".) Maybe it would help if the prize weren't always a trip. . . . Then again, I'm not sure they want to see a contestant solving puzzles like this: _N_____ _...

Re: Tuesday, December 27, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

I mentioned part of this before, but an interesting fact. . . . A team I played on at TRASHionals consisted of me, Jason Keller, Andrew Hutchings, and Kenny Peskin. All of us have won money in trivia competitions. I'm now quite jealous of the fact that I'm the only one that hasn't actually won a gam...

Seriously? New York City + circle + "named for an Italian explorer" for $2000, let alone a Daily Double at that level????

ETA: OK . . . what the heck happened there in FJ!?

Re: Friday, December 16, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

Fun fact: Mr. Keller was a former TRASHionals teammate of mine.

Fun fact #2: That same team also included former college winner Andrew Hutchings.

Fun fact #3: Mr. Keller was at my last audition.

Not-so-fun-fact: And the one before that.

Since alietr said no spoiler tags are necessary . . . :)

How often has it been that all three contestants knew the right answer, but only one of them has gotten it right?

Re: Tuesday, December 6, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

Just saw this one. There was one, umm, interesting moment. One contestant, leading by $20,000, risked $13,000 on a Daily Double. . . . and missed it. That might be one of the least intelligent moves not including FJ! wagers in memory. A clear game changer, followed by a momentum shift. Fascinating ...

Re: Tuesday, December 6, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

It was like watching Icarus. I guess if you're going to Roger it, you'd better have Roger's skills. I'm guessing if he made a modest wager, like $4k, even if he got it wrong he still would have ended up with the lock. That was a real shame to watch, especially since he was so angst-ridden about it....

Re: TD 142: A Touch of Classical

An excellent TD for your first, opus, and the awards section is very imaginative (whereas I often get tired of the process by then, and don't have as imaginative awards as I would like) So since our winners number three, and they are on the stage, are they the three tenors? Will they be singing som...

Darn. I was rooting hard for Joon. (Been a big fan since his first game aired - and a fellow new england-er to boot.) I am very proud of myself for getting FJ - sadly, it was the only one I got this week! On the FJ!—I knew where it was going, but I wasn't quite sure what the answer was suppo...

Re: What celebrity would you most like to see give a clue?

I nominate Tom Baker, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, and/or Matt Smith. Dunno what the clue should be, but the response, in the form of a question, would be "Who?" FTW. :) Personally, I would love to see Bill Belichick or Wes Welker do an entire category. [Granted, it's an acquired taste, bu...

Re: Friday, July 20, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

Zergcam! Well-played, close match. Jeopardy fate is just too fickle, and Brian goes down after one victory. Again, the boards seemed pretty easy. I was sure I had Peary right, and when they revealed Brian's response of Byrd, I went "uh oh ...". Another nice pay day for the champ. And if you read th...
