I said "Georgian cross." If they didn't accept George's, they're not going to accept Georgian.

"Celestine Prophecy" also seemed insanely obscure for the top box.
Granted, The Celestine Prophecy was published back in 1993. However, it sold more than 20 million copies and was on the best-seller list for over three years.

Re: Forgive the Non-J! Poll

Joe Buck has never been my favorite, but I don't find him terribly annoying. What I do find annoying is the rate and speed at which balls are flying out of the park in this series. At least a couple of the game 5 homers came on weak desperation swings where the hitter was just trying to get the bat ...

Re: Thursday, October 19, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I didn't care for the Zero Sum category. Inserting the occasional neg bait clue on a board is one thing, but this entire category was built on the misdirection concept. The players seemed uncomfortable with it, and it wasn't compelling TV.

Re: Thursday, October 12, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Actually, It's a Wonderful Life came out in 1946, so I suppose the writers thought that would put enough doubt in the players' minds to make it seem like a challenging clue. Whatever.... It's a Wonderful Life was released on a limited basis during Christmas week of 1946, presumably to qualify for t...

Thanks for yet another great SHC, rjaguar. I really appreciate that we have this for the long, dark teatime of the soul that is the Summer hiatus. Gratz to all the TOC players for a great finish.
Well said, Woof!

Kudos and thanks to everyone who coordinated the SHC, administered the scoring, and wrote questions!

Thanks especially for working film and Bible categories into the ToC!

Re: Summer Hiatus Challenge 2017--TOC instant replay thread (SPOILERS)

First of all, I want to thank Carmen Sandiego for teaching me Port Moresby. I'm not certain, but I think Monday represented my first daily perfect score in a ToC. (The ToC has always been my SHC kryptonite.) And then I open up Tuesday and there's a film category! Sadly, the questions in this categor...

Re: Summer Hiatus Challenge 2017--Round 6 Instant Replay thread (SPOILERS)

Apparently, Romeo and Juliet is the correct response. The opera is taking up space on my DVR, though I haven't got around to watching it yet. But thanks to the recording, I was able to make an educated guess on the Gounod opera based on a Shakespearean play. On the other hand, I've seen both the Ang...
