Re: What changes are in store for Season 40?
Another thing. That first-to-win-three best-of-seven series was good for GOAT since that was in primetime; but for the ToC finals, just leave it as a two-day total point affair. That being said, I'm wondering if Sarah or Jimmy get tapped to be executive producer, they would change things back to ho...

Re: Fun with NBC's "The Weakest Link"
we really need a schedule for whats a new ep and whats not. just air all new episodes back to back, not this every 2 or 3 weeks crap. i understand they are holding off on some eps beacuse of the writers strike but still. Re: Think Different 478: The Return (final results)
I’m pretty sure this is only my second ever TD win. I think my previous win was back in the 100s.
For my singleton on the final question I must thank my late mother whose childhood Monopoly set I owned for years until it was unfortunately destroyed in flooding some years back.
Thanks for a fun TD.

Re: Wednesday, December 14, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I knew Wilson remarried while he was president from the movie The American President and I was 100% sure that nobody from FDR on married in office. So that left me with Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover. Nothing made me suspect any of the three were the answer, so I confidently answered Wilson.

Re: Tuesday, December 6, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Stunned to see Cris go out on such a gimme Final, placed at the target center of the J! canon. I mean, it's not like the show has said that other things have been the inspiration for the same work over the past five years or anything... Shakespeare could have easily taken inspiration from multiple ...

Re: Monday, November 28, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I might agree if there was really anything in the clue that could lead to that wrong answer but other than the fact that the character was born in one place and spent most of her life in another, there was nothing in the clue to indicate that the answer might be Anne of Green Gables. I found it ext...

23/0, 28/1 :o (missed Appaloosa, clammed Dawson's Creek) runs: Cards, Brit History, 6-Letter Words, Around the Globe, Major trash: House of Lords betting: :D :D :D :( matched the contestants. It is my firm belief that if a FJ! leads to all three contestants giving the same wrong answer, it's a bad ...

Re: Idea for future TOCs...
I enjoyed the TOC. I'm open to them playing with other formats but I really hope they do not involvve wild cards or two-game total point finals. I much formats that encourage winning games. In typical Jeopardary torunaments, the only game a player needs to win is their semi-final game and that feels...

Re: Fun with ABC's "Celebrity Jeopardy!"
I suspect one of the reasons that ABC is going with game shows on Sunday nights is that they are a lot cheaper and, thus, can survive on lower ratings.

Re: New ToC format speculation thread
Wouldn’t the simplest approach be 7 quarterfinal games with the 7 winners and 2 wild cards advancing to the semis, then the usual 3 semifinal games followed by a two game final? 12 days total.

I think there were a few things I didn't know. My brain just sort of dumped it all into the “facts about Jeopardy!” Bucket. But I recall it was interesting to hear about the show from her point of view.

Podcast Interview with Retired Jeopardy! Researcher
Ken Levine is a sitcom writer (M*A*S*H, Cheers, Frasier, Becker, The Odd Couple, and others), playwright, and former baseball play-by-play man has a podcast cleverly named Hollywood and Levine. Recently, he did an interview over two parts with retired Jeopardy! researcher Suzanne Stone about the sho...

Re: Monday, June 20, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
What a terrible FJ clue. "Mono" as a prefix means "one" and not "alone." The OED entry for "monarchy" gives the derivation from the Greek "rule of one," and the definition "Undivided rule by a single person; sole rule or sovereignty; absolute p...

Re: Jeopardy! National College Championship
Assuming that Four players come out of the semis and advance to the finals night, I still think we could see something like this:
Game 1: 2nd, 3rd, and 4th highest scoring semi-final winners.
Game 2: Top 2 scorers from Game 1 vs. Highest scoring semi-final winner for Championship.
Game 1: 2nd, 3rd, and 4th highest scoring semi-final winners.

Re: Wednesday, January 26, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I’m not sure that the Manning response required a BMS. The clue was specifically looking for a Colts QB, so Manning could only be Peyton Manning in that context. But wouldn't this mean a BMS is never required? After all, the other possibilities are ruled out by specific details in the clue. Not nec...

I’m not sure that the Manning response required a BMS. The clue was specifically looking for a Colts QB, so Manning could only be Peyton Manning in that context. If the context had been NFL quarterbacks, then yes, a BMS would be necessary because Archie and Eli would also be possible responses. I di...

Re: Jeopardy! National College Championship
My theory is that when initially announced, this tourney was planned to be some kind of team tournament (with each member of the winning team getting $100,000). However, I think that it has changed to an individual tourney. There is certainly a change in the prize money based on this tweet from Mayi...
