Re: Tuesday, June 6, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I'm pretty sure Tracy Bacon was in my J! audition in Phoenix in January. But you can decide for yourself (I'm the guy behind her in the blue shirt and gray hair). Congratulations, Tracy! Looks like her to me. Were you expecting her to be on the show? Actually, I wasn't (especially as they recently ...

Re: Timing of Audition Invite Emails

I'm pretty sure there will be auditions in Nashville in about 2 weeks, and invitation e-mails have already been sent. So there's one fewer city to be chosen for...sorry, John Boy.

Re: Timing of Audition Invite Emails

Wayne: I don't know why you keep focusing on the five stories: in my audition this January, I'm pretty sure no one was asked about those stories. We were asked about (1) our occupation, (2) what we do for fun, and (3) what we'd do with the $$$ if we won. That's plenty for an in-audition interview (t...

Re: Phoenix Auditions January 18-19 2017

I hope y'all won't think this is too self-indulgent, but for those of you who have never attended a J! audition, this video from the Arizona Republic shows you what an audition actually looks like. http://www.azcentral.com/videos/news/local/phoenix/2017/01/18/tempe-man-'jeopardy'-audition-''s-pretty...

Re: Phoenix Auditions January 18-19 2017

I attended the Phoenix Audition Wed 18 Jan at 10 AM (the first of the 4 audition groups). I can add a few notes to what Jeffreygallup said. I could've sworn I heard Corina say there were 70K people who took the online test, I also heard the 3K audition and 400 contestants figures. Among many things ...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), October 6, 2016

Oh...my...God. It looks like I got 49 out of 50, only missing the Twenty One Pilots question. That includes a few (very) lucky guesses. Even better, I recorded myself taking the test. So I guess I could post it to YouTube if someone doesn't believe me (I wouldn't believe me if I weren't me). Now I'm...

Re: 2015 Online Test

Since no one else has mentioned it, I'll say that yesterday I got an e-mail from jeopardy.com titled The Jeopardy! Adult Online Tests start tomorrow! that opens with You've trained hard for this week. Time to show us what you've got! Hopefully everyone else planning to take the Online Test got their...

Since no one else has mentioned it, let me add that Mario Cuomo passed away on January 1st and has several entries in the J! Archive, including a Final Jeopardy! clue.

In Passing

Since I haven't seen it mentioned here (or on Buzzerblog, where it belongs), I'll just note this here: http://www.latimes.com/obituaries/la-me-geoff-edwards-20140306,0,3793049.story#axzz2vAKxpQU3 And, since we're on the subject, should probably mention this from late last month: http://www.eonline.c...

Re: J! 30th anniversary tournament

Pardon my late entry into this (ahem) engrossing topic, but seeing all these really smart and really talented people trying really really hard to get one more shot on the J! stage is reminding me of a quote by Bill Shankly: Football is not a matter of life and death...it's much more important than t...

Re: Familiar Face on "The Chase"

I've wondered two things: (1) How does The Beast choose the dollar amounts when he goes up against the contestants, and (2) besides pride, what incentive does The Beast have to win (though I'm guessing pride is more than adequate for him)? Someone asked Mark Labbett (2) at The Chase Q&A at TCONA 3....

Something tells me I shouldn't wade into this...but if I were to choose a former J! contestant to replace Alex it would be Bob Verini.

Re: The Experts - New YouTube Game Show

It would be even more meta if you went with The $128,000 Question considering who hosted it from '77 to '78. Well, only because we're discussing it here. JEOPARDY! did come out of the quiz show scandal of the 1950's (see this interview for details), but despite Julann calling it "the $64,000 scanda...

4. The Variety - ... I would get bored pretty quickly if I had to watch three USC football experts duke it out. (Remember The $64,000/$128,000 Question when you didn't know the subject? No variety, compensated for by an excruciating pace.) I can't help pointing out (for reasons I'll explain in a bi...

Re: Tuesday, January 15, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I wonder if I was the only one who thought of this building for Final Jeopardy.

This building was constructed in 1961, The Jetsons started in 1962, so the timing is right.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), January 10, 2013

I have a bit of a general question. Didn't the instructions say that misspelled or incomplete responses would be judged within reason? And that whatever was in the blank when the timer was up would be your recorded answer? Here's the relevant info from the the "wait screen" before the test starts. ...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), January 10, 2013

Ick, 31 this time around, so at least I can take some comfort in the fact that my for real test Wednesday wasn't the worst possible choice (34). Still stings that I would've easily passed Tuesday (41). Ah well, back to my mantra, "There's always next year!" You got a 34 on what seems to be the toug...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), January 10, 2013

Getting to the party late here, I recorded and transcribed the clues (my copy is much shoddier than the one plasticene posted). And speaking of plasticene, I went and researched the questions and it looks like his answers are correct, with one maybe substantive revision: Q9: The noodles used in pad ...
